An Outsiders Perspective

Celtic fan here, thought you guys played a heck of a game tonight and based on what i saw i think with a few moves you guys could be a really good team, thought i would throw my two cents out there and see what you guys think.

Complete the proposed Vince Carter and Magliore for Jermaine O'Neal trade

Trade Jamal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels for Zach Randolph, He replaces JO and NY cuts some salary

Trade Foster for Sam Cassell, Clips want something in return instead of just buying him out. Cassell is a good point guard.

New Roster

Cassell/ Diener
Carter/Rush
Granger/Dunlevy
Randolph/ Williams
Murphy/ Harrison

The reason I think this could work is the attitude of this team. Cassell wants to be in the playoffs plain and simple and is a leader.

Randolph needs to repair his image, if that is motivation for him, he is a great offensive player.

Carter can't jump like he used to but has been playing great lately and is getting smarter.

And this team is instantly deeper with Dunlevy, Williams and Rush all coming off the bench. And Magliore and Cassell both expire at the end if you want to grab a differnt point guard.

The toughest loss here is Foster, a great hustle and team player, but the only salary left that nets you cassell.

Good foundation with Carter, Randolph, and Granger.

Although i wouldn't deal Jermaine O'Neal to the Knicks unless we got a unprotected first round pick among other things, i wouldn't mind Zach Randoph coming to the Pacers. He's a great rebounder and maybe his life would change being back home. When he's not lazy he is a great player. I don't know if i'd risk all that by dealing JO tho but i dont see the Knicks dealing him for Daniels and Tinsley.

-NJ deal only if SW2 is included IMO (he won't = no deal) - but PTB will F' this up, so you may be right...

-No Randolf here, though I agree he would be a value in terms of talent. W/ the report of Tin's & JOB on the outs, I might accept ZR for a Tin's/Murph deal though...

-Cassell wont want to come here, & no way I do that deal. IMO, Foster needs kept t/y as he is the 1 player fans relate to. I do believe he might be moved, but that would be another mistake by the PTB.

I appreciate the feed back and agree, for Randolph it is all about his attitude.

The reason I thought the Knicks would look at this is based on a few things:
1. the article on realgm today that he is being activly shopped
2. the value many stars have gotten in return lately
3. cuts some salary for the knicks, its going to have to be baby steps because Isiah is not getting a sympthay or a big expiring contract from anyone.
4. Maybe a future protected pick could be added, but I don;t think it is neccesary.

Dunleavy has been playing very well, I don't think we should make him our 6th man...

The reason I thought Cassell might come is that you guys are not even close to being out of the playoffs and with that team, they would be a DANGEROUS 7 or 8 seed.

If it is Tin's and Murph for Randolph, than you can keep foster and flip Daniels into Cassel, probably a better thing for Clips too.

Then start him at 3, move granger to 4 and Randolph to Center. Make Murph come off the bench.

I agree Dunlevy has been playing really really well lately

That would be the worst defensive team of all time.

If we're talking about building this team around Granger and Williams, I want Zach Randolph nowhere near them.

I might say the same for Vince Carter as well.
