Diogu??? Minutes???

Post#1 » by boydietheone » Wed Feb 20, 2008 8:50 pm

Look we ain't gunna get anywhere in the playoffs and and we ain't gunna get a good draft pick at the moment.
I say start Diogu and give the kid a go, he hit 14 points in 12min the other night against Det and I recall him hitting a few points early in the season when J.O was out.
Why isn't he getting minutes???

Cheers
Boydie from Australia.

Welcome. I agree with you, as do most Pacer fans. I think he slept with Obie's wife.

Sorry, count me out of the Diogu fan base, I just think he doesn't earn it yet.
Rest in Peace, Pacerfan

He's gonna be one of my new favorites if Memphis takes him for Kyle Lowry....

Assuming we don't make any moves I'd like to our rotation change completely. I'd like this:

Tinsley/Quis
Dunleavy/Rush
Granger/Shawne
Diogu/Shawne
Foster/Murphy

Lots of Shawne and Ike. Lots and lots. Let's see what we have in those 2.

Count me in on the camp that has no clue why Ike doesn't play more. I mean what has Hulk done to show he has deserved his minutes?

No question marks necessary. "Meh" is exactly how I feel about it.

I think his scoring and rebounding production, combined with his youth and contract, warrant more P.T. on a team with a bleak future. I know I've seen people declare Ike "stupid" but he's so crafty on offense that I don't believe it. He just needs to improve his defensive awareness and work on a few other things (passing, turnovers) and I think he can be a player. There's no denying he's a hell of a scorer and can rebound the ball, those are two big pluses.

Can someone explain to me, how is it possible for any player to play 4 minutes, and be a MINUS 10?!?!

We totally figured out tonight why Ike doesn't play much and most "Ike Haters" on here are spot on. The kid doesn't play defense at ALL. 1 rebound. 0-3. -10. wow.

And Granger has one of the worst plus/minus of the season. Didn't we debate on here how relevant that stat was earlier in the season? And if we aren't going to play somebody because they can't play defense then who on earth would get any time for this team?

per Jim O'B's article, he is not happy w/ Ike - esp. on offense.

Yeah, the quote was something along the lines of "Ike hasn't picked up the offensive or defensive philosophy" with the reporter then mentioning that Ike does well in garbage time because he has a knack for rebounding and a touch around the basket, but that he just doesn't fit the overall philosophy.

New question, should the philosophy be adapted to the pieces we have, or should we only have pieces that fit the philosophy?

Though the philosophy can (and should) influence the team make-up to a degree, I still think the sign of a good system is that it can adapt to the players (tools) it has.

That being said, we're now on the fourth different philosophy (including GS) that Ike didn't quite fit.
