DeAndre Jordan

It looks as though every website has the Pacers taking a point guard with the No. 11 pick. Either Westbrook or Augustin. As much as I like both of them, I can see the Pacers surprising everyone by taking Jordan. For three reasons:

1.)

His combination of size, length, and explosiveness makes him a quality shot blocker now who can develop into a dominant one with added coaching and discipline

I can see the J.O. taking him under his wing and make him the other defensive presence that he desires.

2.)

A quality rebounder who shows solid effort but must learn better positioning under the basket ...Right now his offensive game is limited to mostly dunks and follow up shots around the basket

That looks like a liability, but with Granger and Dunleavy on the wings and Jermaine inside I don't think scoring will be that important for him. Sounds like he is more of a Jeff Foster around the basket with better shooting percentage.

3.)

Very solid in the transition game as he gets out and runs the floor very well for a 7 footer

Sounds like a match for Obie's system.

The only problem I see is the void left at point guard. :nonono:

I can see him having a career that will have us fondly remembering Greg Dreiling.

Lucky you...BTW...I don't mean that he'd remind us of Dreiling stylistically...(Greg had the mobility and overall physical athleticism of your average telephone pole)...just that I don't think he's going to be productive...at all.

Initially, I liked DeAndre Jordan, but have since soured on him. Big men take a long time to develop, especially one that is as raw as DeAndre Jordan. When you add that to the fact that there are reports of him being "unmotivated and possessing a lack of fire", then I think you have a recipe for a bust.
