Before you guys blast me for this please listen to the reasoning.
Portland
PF Raef LaFrentz
Pick #27
Traded For
Indiana
PG Jamal Tinsley
SF Marquis Daniels
I know you are probably thinking, "What the heck is he talking about?' We could probably make the playoffs this year if we don't trade Jamal and keep O'Neal, but if we don't this is a step which will help us tremendously in next year's offseason. LaFrentz is expiring and we could get rid of two terrible contracts. Maybe Portland would look at it like Bird did when he took on Murphy and Dunleavy. It is an upgrade for Portland over Jarrett Jack if Tinsley is healthy. and Daniels adds to there bench. Portland could also be able to package Jack with other pieces for veterans if they wanted.
For Indiana it allows us to use our #11 on a PG and then use the #27 on a C or PF. We will have money for next years offseason. To add some quality player.
It does sound a little crazy but Portland is bringing in two potential role players that can contribute for them.

Re: Portland/Indiana
I actually think this is a great idea...for the Pacers. It clears a bunch of capspace and gets us another bite at the apple in the 1st round. If Portland were to say yes, I'd be thrilled to death.
However, it seems counter to everything that Portland is doing. It add contract in the form of a player with considerable offcourt baggage. While he could conceivably be a good PG for him, they'd have the same trust/injury issues. If there's any team in the league that's going to be equally, if not more sensitive to character issues and contracts, it's going to be Portland...our predecessor in the experience of having a proud franchise and city's image tarnished by the actions of their players.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I agree with count55 here.
This is wonderful.....for the Pacers. Not so much for the Blazers. In order to get straight expirings for a guy like Jamaal Tinsley, we'd probably have to pay the value, not the other team giving us expirings.

If it weren't for JTs baggage I think the Blazers would go for this even considering JT misses some games. Of course they'd have to get a DR to look at him maybe a workout. But I don't think they touch him like count and Scoot said no more JailBlazers.

Re: Portland/Indiana
The story I was hearing on the Blazers was they were looking to deal the #13 for a veteran SG/SF type player, then I heard they were looking at Barbosa. I thought the #27 was a piece of a trade for Barbosa something like the two picks with Jack and Webster and either Fernandez or Kopenen. But that seems like a lot to give for Barbosa so IDK.
I think a deal could be made between us and the Blazers but we'd have to give them Daniels and Foster for Raef. We'd be giving the 2 productive players for a guy who prob wouldn't play much exp for exp and then add in some reason for us to do it. I'm thinking Foster, Daniels and Shawne for Raef, Frye, Jack, rts to Rudy Fernandez and #13. Portland deals #27, Webster, James Jones and Koponen for Barbosa.
I also saw a story talking about the Suns selling the #15 pick. Who knows, this draft is gonna be really interesting.

We'd have just a good of chance getting Oden with Jamaal Tinsley.

It's not that bad, but after I saw it in print it seems like too much from the Blazers prob. have to take out Jack. My point was that the Blazers are wanting some vets and Daniels and Foster equal Raef in salary for the same number of years but would be much more porductive. They are looking for a SF and Daniels give them that swingman in addition to that Williams is a talented youngster takes Websters place. Still seems like a lot for Daniels, Foster and Shawne, getting Raef, Frye and Fernandez plus a #13 pick would be a great deal for us.

I really don't think we will get 13 from the Blazers unless we overpay considerably. I wonder if no one we are in love with is there at 11 Portland would trade us Jack and 13 for 11? I would love to do something like that, but it may be asking a lot.

Jack and the 13 would be fine if the player the Blazers target is there. Other reports have the Blazers trading 13 and Jack for 10 and Marcus Williams. It is believed Augustine would be the target.
Forget any trade scenario involving Tinsley or Danials unless it involves Granger. With Joel P. around, Jeff Foster makes little sense as well.
