Never too early to disucss.... 2009 Draft
What do you guys think? We obviously must be going after a Power Forward next year, probably our only position of need, even if we add a player (unless we add a Brandon Wright type).
Patrick Patterson i think would be my perfect player. He's quick, very good defensive player, hustles hard and has a good shot.
Others- Blake Griffin, Andrew Ogilvy, Jordan Hill, Greg Monroe, Samardo Samuels
I just pray we don't pick Tyler Hansbrough.

Re: Never too early to disucss.... 2009 Draft
I can see us drafting at 13 - Demar DeRozan falls to us, then we trade him for the 27th pick Tyler Hansbrough and and 2nd round pick in 2013. Hansbrough will contribute right away though.
:-p
In all seriousness, why would you not want Hansbrough? I love that guy. He is a Jeff Foster PF that can play offense in an uptempo game. I wouldn't love him too high, but if we could get another pick I would love him.

Yeah, I like Tyler Hansborough's ability to find some way to contribute and overcome the expectations people place on him. He'd be a solid PF option, even if it's just off the bench.

Ehhh...I wouldnt be pleased with Hansbrough. Unless we are picking 25 or lower (doubtful), I would be quite upset with him. I dont think he will ever amount to anything in the NBA.

Re: Never too early to disucss.... 2009 Draft
I'm definately intrigued by a few guys. Don't get any high school coverage down here, but have read a bit of hype about a few guys. Blake Griffin should be a beast. Am interested in what i have heard about DeRozan. Have heard some good things about Tyreke Evans aswell.
I wouldn't mind Hansbrough with a late pick, maybe we can get one for cheap. I like his energy. Should be quite useful as an off the bench, quick impact player.

Tyreke Evans has attitude problem written all over him.
He is the most selfish basketball player I have ever seen in my life. Remember that game where Tinsley took like 18 straight shots - or so it seemed. I imagine to see Evans do that 1 out of every 7 games he plays in the NBA. I watched the McDonalds All-American game and if he touched the ball he shot it, never even considered passing.
I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard he was planning on going to North Carolina but Roy Williams took back the offer because he thought he was too selfish. It will be interesting to see what happens to him, but I would hate to see him on the Pacers unless he seriously changes.

Useless australian TV not broadcasting all-american games. Guess ist's a little hard to judge from this side of the globe

I've only read about him be able to take over games, not dominate them without just cause. Guess it will be much easier for me when the college season starts

Hasheem Thabeet? Jeff Adrien? I would take either of them over Hansbrough. I like Hansbrough but he isn't going to anything in the NBA. He is good in college, but his shots won't get off like that in the NBA.

See, I just think that Hansborough is one of those amazing hard workers that he will find a way to fit in the NBA, like a David Lee or Jeff Foster with a solid jump shot. He'll works his way into a rotation and prove someone smart for taking him, and I think he'll shoot up draft boards like Brandon Rush, Joe Alexander, and Russell Westbrook did this year.

I'm hoping to pick sometime past #20.
But Hansborough has the work ethic I like. Great character, and even if he doesn't stuff the stat sheet and play lots of minutes, he'll still help the chemistry, and make his teammates work harder.

Couldn't agree more. He will find a way to contribute and all this knock on him not being athletic is a load of crap, I watched him dunk over a 7'8 guy in a game.
He is hands down the best college player I have ever seen in my life. Not saying that translates to the NBA, but it has to count for something. He is going to shatter so many ACC records this year.

Lol, I could dunk over Kenny George. That guy is the most uncoordinated goober I've ever seen. Hansbrough isnt athletic, and hes all of like 6'7. I love his toughness and how he always seems to make it work...but I still dont see him being much more than a 9th man in the NBA.

I don't care how unathletic or uncoordinated he is, he is still 7'8, thats insane.

I'm already bummed that we don't have a second rounder in 2009.

Same, I hope Bird can get another 1st. Is this the 1st year that we have had 2 1st round picks? I don't remember another.

I want Ricky Rubio...but I dont want us to suck bad enough to be in a position to draft him.
