its gonna be hard to land a big name FA in a few years to compliment their future core of Durant, Green, Westbrook. Poor Durant, its gonna be hard to become a star in Oklahoma.

I disagree with most people on here. The fans didn't deserve the Sonics. The Key Arena deal was terrible, by far the worst in the NBA and the Sonics had no choice but to move to a new venue (whether in Seattle or not). It is the taxpayers that voted down building the Sonics a new arena over and over again. They knew the consequences of their actions and kept voting the new arena down. Maybe they didn't feel like shelling out more taxes after building state of the art arenas for the Seahawks and Mariners, which is understandable. That said they knew what would happen if the kept voting the arena deals down and they kept at it, so it is really their choice IMO. The bottom line is tha if they took care of the Sonics like they did the Seahawks and Mariners the Sonics would still call Seattle home.

I dont think you can blame that on the fans. The residents of the area (who are not guaranteed to like the Sonics) vote on that stuff. Falling economic conditions and the aforementioned tax hike for the Mariners/Seahawks stadiums might have factored in the equation. Who knows, it may have just been bad timing. Had the Sonics tried to secure funds for a new stadium before the Seahawks and Mariners the voting may have been different. Besides, I think it was only about 12 years ago that they made huge renovations to KeyArena. The residents certainly have themselves to blame for part of it, but I still feel for them. I would be absolutely devastated if the Pacers left Indy (and I dont even live there), so I feel for the die-hard fans who just lost their team.

I feel bad for the die hards as well, but obviously they were in the minority there. Seattle was done supporting the Sonics and forced their hand in terms of a move.
