OT- Complaint Thursdays....
Here's a "game" to get through the off-season. We're pretty much entering the "Dog days of summer" and topics and news are on the minimum. Here's a topic, each and every Thursday during the off-season, where you take all you have off your chest and just let it go. It's Complaint Thursdays.... nobody wants to go into the weekend with stuff on their mind. Let it all out. I'm sure with some of the personalities we got here, we can make this into something real good. Talk NBA, Pacers or anything on your mind.
Complain about anything you want. 1 complaint, 20 complaints, who cares? No one is really listening anyways. lol
I got two this week that been building up.
European teams conquering the NBA player pool. Sure, it doesn't hurt too much when guys like Juan Carlos Navarro go and some others, but how far can the Europeans take this? Childress? He was a solid NBA player. I remember for some time i wanted him to play for the Pacers. Carl Landry is the new name rumored. With so many European players who get drafted decide to stay in Europe, Brendon Jennings is one of the top HS recruits and i know he signed with a European team because his grades did qualify him for UCLA but how many more will go when the NBA makes it 2 years of college before joining the NBA? I heard Kosta Koufus has an offer from Panathiakos in Greece which he will probably reject.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns
Even Dwyane Wade is talking about it. When will this end and will it hurt the NBA? That is my worry. I do like the NBA but most importantly who's to say a European team won't ever steal one of our guys? I mean, we all laugh at Stanko Barac now because he's almost a nobody who doesn't play often, but what if he becomes a star in Europe? Would we not be able to afford him? I read an article that says Charlie Bell, Stephon Marbury, Andrei Kirilenko and Sasha Pavlovic have all threatened to leave and go play in Europe. Bostjan Nachbar signed with Moscow. It's a trent that just started and they are not getting the "stars" but they also ain't getting the has beens or never beens.... they are getting legit, good NBA players. 2010 is a huge FA year in the NBA, will Europe make it's mark that year and take a star away? This really gets on my nerves.

Re: OT- Complaint Thursdays....
And my other complaint this week -
I'm TOTALLY upset with my cable company, Time Warner. Don't get me wrong, i usually love TW and i have no problems with them esspicially now since they offer Sabres in HD. But, my STUPID ASS neighbor was doing yard work and cut our cable cords. So my cable went out. I didn't have tv all day Monday, which is cool, i wasn't home and i called TW. They said they'd send out a guy on Tuesday BETWEEN 9am and 3pm. WTF! 6 hour window seems a bit much? Ok, so its ok. I had off from work, so i slept in til like 10am, got worried that i missed the dude, but nah not yet. I stayed waiting til 1pm. I had no food in the house, so i made a quick run to Wegmans. I was gone 20 minutes. I come back and theres a note on the door. Like WTF. That always happens to me. It's like he was outside across the street waiting for me to leave. What a punch in the balls. Worst feeling ever. Seems to happen alot to me, from UPS to the cable guy. I'm surprised the note he left on the door didn't just say "LOL". But thinking about it, it was my fault for leaving, but giving me a 6-hour window? I couldn't do ANYTHING all day. God forbid i got hungry.

Re: OT- Complaint Thursdays....
Geesh, I dont know where to start but let me tell you, this is the topic for me.
1. Brother is a drug addict that is part of our military and won't go clean regardless of who it is hurting. He is a drug test away from losing his future considering he did not graduate high school. He no longer speaks with me because I encourage him to go clean. I was a bit wild and ignorant when I was 18 but it is amazing what what drugs can do to a person.
2. I believe my father had a stroke recently. He has been ungodly stressed due to the above and while yes, we are doing a self diagnosis on the stroke but that is simply because he refuses to go the doctor. He wants to "live life on it's terms."
3. I don't care to add another family member to my list of compaints but my mother has a infection on the inside of abdominal wall. Doctors have been working on this forever it seems and they just days ago decide to do some kind of test that happened to show that she has 6 inches of infection in the abdominal wall.
4. I have been averaging around 4 hours sleep lately. Between headaches and just waking up without being able to go back to sleep, I have literally been sleeping a mearly 4 hours in average. I have no real sure reasons why I have a headache. I have quit smoking for my own good and for job hunting but that has been 32 days so I have no idea why that would be causing it. I do have a feeling it has been causing my insomnia and that was part of the reason I started a while back but that is relatively minor compared to the headaches I have been getting daily at around 1:30pm.
5. Car issues have been absolutely killing me lately. I am a college student and I fairly recently blew my engine in an Eclipse. Normally, I would be able to get this taken care of quickly but I quit hustling and have not found a job yet so my cash is strapped. After putting in a new transmission just 2 months before the engine blew, my savings stashed was depleted for the most part and I can't seem to decide if it is worth putting a new engine in. In the meantime, I am struggling with transportation.
6. Going back on #1, I'd like to make a complaint about our military recruiting. I will not say what branch of military but I find it to be pitiful that they will recruit in any way they can, whomever they can, and at any cost. Before they are willing to take you to Indy to actually sign up or enroll in this branch, they drug test you to make sure your clean and not wasting their time. I'd like to add in the center of this that he was guaranteed to have a sign on bonus and once he reached Indy, it was all of a sudden "No, your MOS is too new and we can't give you any sign on bonus." Back on to the topic, this kid failed their tests for months but each time it was "hey, comeback and we'll test you again." This literally went on months and despite the fact they knew what was truly up to him and what he about, they had this attitude that they will take him regardless, just test clean. Needless to say, I attribute that to the reason he has not graduated high school at nearly 19. He cared little about school before this military idea came up and did not have a care afterwards and therefore went from inconsistent attendance to an average of attending once every 6 days. I do not attribute this to his drug problem because that had been going on for years and never changed...kept the same habits down to the amount he was willing to ingest in these drugs. Anyways, I have never had much respect for recruiters who come to high school to recruit kids who have no idea what they want to do in life or what they are capable of but I find this to be pitiful and have lost any respect I had for them. They are a big part of the reason my relationship with my brother is shattered and at this point, I would not even encourage a Piston fan to go the military route.
Mods, if I have said anything out of line, I encourage you to edit it to your satisfaction. I have no idea if I am breaking any TOS rules but if I am, I apoligize.

Re: OT- Complaint Thursdays....
Good day to do this!
1) I can't find a job anywhere. I have a degree in Biology. It's worthless.
2) I'm trying to finish school strong and get an A in my physiology class (to apply to OT school, not for my degree) and I'm working my butt off and getting a B.
3) Somebody busted out my back window in my car today. We're pretty sure it was Mr. Window because they were here putting in new windows (ironic, huh?) but we can't prove it so I'm stuck with that bill.
I really do feel for you Artest23. What's going on with your family is really hard and while mine has never had drug problems I have had an uncle and a cousin commit suicide within the last 4 years, and my grandma had a heart attack both times she found out. My sister has been quadriplegic for 18 years and my brother and mother are both serious asthmatics, so we've had our share of health problems. I sure hope everything works out for you as it seems your brother going clean would solve many of your problems.

Freeron go back to school and switch your degree to pharmacy I don't know how many extra courses you'll have to take but the job prospects are much better, or you could go to one of those pharacy tech program to get started. I don't know what your wanting to do but that's an area where good money and job prospects.

Yeah, all kinds of jobs opps in pharmacy out there. Or, I know this doesn't fit for everyone, but with a science related degree, many high schools have programs where you are hired to teach with a provisional license. You get like 2 years to work towards permanent licensure. Schools are desparate for qualified science teachers. just a thought.
My complaint...
I have my comprehensive exam coming up for my masters in math. It's this saturday at 8am!!! I mean, why a saturday? it's the summer, can't they find some time during the week for me to come in and take it. It's bad enough that I have to take the exam in the first place, but it would be nice to be able to get it out of the way and sleep in on the weekend! (I know my problems are small relatively speaking, but I still like to vent)

Re: OT- Complaint Thursdays....
I started working towards my tech license 5 years ago. I could get one pretty easily if that's what I wanted to do, I would just have to find a job first pretty much. It was only something like $40 to get the tech-in-training license, but that's kind of a waste of money if I don't get a job afterwards. wacko, I'm going into OT...it's just that I have to sit out a year because I switched late. There'll be plenty of job opportunities after that, I'm just looking for something to get me by until I can get in and have been relatively frustrated at the lack of jobs not only in biology but in general right now.

I'm new to the board, but I saw this topic and I have to say I feel very lucky. I read that 23artest23 entry, and my heart goes out to you, sir. The only thing we've got going on is that my son is in the middle of a divorce from a woman he needs to get rid of, and while it is trying, it is also a good thing for him.

Re: OT- Complaint Thursdays....
You know what. I like this idea.
From now on, every Thursday, someone can start up an OT- Complaint Thursday thread. At the end of every Thursday, or on Friday morning, someone will lock it, and in a few days, it will be sent to the nether realms of RealGM never to be seen again (and hopefully, in a slightly therapeutic way). No one in particular has to make the thread, but if it's not up yet, anyone can start it.
Any disagreements?

By OT you mean Occupational Therapy? That's a great career path. You should be fine, so you're really looking for a job to get you thur til ypu're done with the degree program. I'll make you two suggestions, there's a couple of great great places to work, one is Fed Ex it's nights mostly so you can work it around you school schedual, i have a good friend that works there, starts off at something like $11.80 hr. And they have tuition reimbursement. The other one is capital groug/American funds, my niece works there starting pay is good and they give you up to $5000 per yr to go to school, $10,000 for grad school. Thing is it's kinda hard to get a job there. Here's the web site and a link to careerbuilder.

Good luck with the job searching it's not an easy thing.

Sweet. I started this on a hockey (Sabres) board and its been on fire, we're like 6 weeks in and we did it like 2 months last year. It's cool. We all go through busy lives and stuff builds up in a week. But, i think it brings us closer, adds a little humor (since not all complaints are always serious) and some other ones, people just want to vent and really don't have much place to do it. I think most of us here are together yearly here, even when we don't post, we come to read up or whatever, and it's just a way to get through the off-season.
And on the Sabres board, the mod locks it as soon as he gets online in the morning Friday. We let it go into the over night... so if you could i think that be best too. Lock it up Friday morning whenever you wake up, if discussion goes on through the late hours just let it be.. lol Friday when you wake up or get a chance to get online, lock the puppy up.
And thanks for liking the idea.

Scoot and fellow mods... let Jumper read this before this tread is sent to the RealGM black hole...
I can speak of this from a personal level Jumper... I am a 24 year old who as of March 5th, a divorcee... While I thought that I was in love with this girl, and had some children with her, I can now look back and see that it was not love, and infact, being with her had made me into a person that I was not happy being... I also realize now that she did not bring out ANY good in me at all, and was really dead weight in my life... Hindsight is always 20-20, but as the whole process was going on, and even for a period of time after, I was a wreck... Even though I had filed, and pushed the whole thing, I felt that I still did not want to go through with it, even though I knew that I could never be go back to her again after what had happened... Long story short, it will take plenty of time for him to get over her, and you to stop worring about him, but when that time does come, your whole family will be much better off!! As for me, I am now a full time single father of two (Yes I was awarded FULL CUSTODY here in Indiana
) A 3 yr old and a 16 month old... my pride and joy... And while I am still working on getting back on my feet, I realize that my children and I are so much better off!! I will recomend a book to your son, and everyone else for that matter, that I read, and it will help him to understand a relation and help him understand himself... It is called Divorce Busting, and while it IS a book to prevent a divorce, it has some valuable lessons in it, IMO... I cannot recall the author, sorry... BUt keep your head up, and make sure that he does as well... Best wishes...

Here's the lock...it won't get moved for the next few days, though.
Seeya next Thursday.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.
