Actually, Mercer only had one year left at $6.8mm on his contract when we traded him. I always thought we did the Miller deal just so we wouldn't lose him for nothing. We couldn't afford to give him the contract Utah was offering (and hopefully wouldn't have if we could), so we worked a deal with Sacto to pick up Pollard as a serviceable big, and brought SA into to get rid of Mercer...not so much because of his contract, but mostly just to dump him.

I think Danny will get a deal similar to the contract Deng signed. Plus or minus a few million, I think it will be pretty close. As for who is better, I'll take Danny but it is debatable. 2-3 years down the line would probably be a better time to decide because I expect both to improve, Danny possibly a bit more.
