NO/IND/MIA trade idea

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Wed Sep 10, 2008 5:31 pm

New Orleans Incoming Players
Shawne Williams
Maceo Baston
Jamaal Tinsley

------------------------------------
Why NO: They are making a NBA finals run, and need depth desperatly. They get an upgrade at pg. and a decent bench. They also save money next year.
------------------------------------
NO Lineup:
Paul/Tinsley
Posey/Peterson/Brown
Stojakovic/Williams/Wright
West/Ely/Baston/Bowen
Chandler/Armstrong/Marks

------------------------------------
NO Salary:
08/09 +613,960
09/10 -3,211,600
10/11 +7,500,000

Miami Incoming Players
Mike James
Josh McRoberts
IND 2nd

------------------------------------
Why MIA: They are still looking for a pg. They dont want Tinsley long contract and off court issues. So instead they get James, and a decent pick with our 2nd. They would save money next year and still have the exp before 2010.
------------------------------------
MIA Lineup:
James/Chalmers/Banks
Wade/Wright/Cook
Marion/Jones/Diawara
Beasley/Blount/Padgett/McRoberts
Maglore/Zo/Anthony

------------------------------------
MIA Salary:
08/09 +185,517
09/10 -633,400
10/11 No Change

Indiana Incoming Players
Rasual Butler
Udonis Haslem

------------------------------------
Why IND: We get rid of Tinsley. Fill a weak position in Haslem, and cut down our roster.
------------------------------------
IND Lineup:
Ford/Jack/Deiner
Dunleavy/Rush/Daniels/Graham
Granger/Butler
Murphy/Haslem
Rasho/Foster/Hibbert

------------------------------------
IND Salary:
08/09 -799,477
09/10 +3,845,000
10/11 -7,500,000

Im not really sure the Hornets would do this deal, CP3 is going to play 40 minutes a night so paying someone the kind of money Tinsley is earning for 8 minutes a night doesnt make alot of sense.

Tinsley makes 6,750,000
James makes 6,049,000

I don't see a huge difference in pay to be honest.
Tinsley>James

Shawne & Baston make 3,542,960
Butler makes 3,630,000

So they save money on this half of the deal.
Shawne, Baston>Butler

The fact that pay about the same to upgrade in talent and add a body. Makes to be a good deal for them IMO.

Over the course of the contracts James & Butler will be paid 20,091,000
Over the course of contracts Tinsley, Baston, Williams will be paid 18,242,960 or 24,070,511 if they pick up the option on Shawne.

So they could potentialy save money. And the only way the wouldn't is if they picked up the option on Shawne which would mean he paned out to be a good player.

Miami probably does this. It saves them a little money this year and next, shores up their PG position, and doesn't interfere with their 2010 strategy. They might want to substitute Blount for Haslem, which I'd probably balk at, but then do.

The problem here is New Orleans. I don't see them wanting Tinsley.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I always thought that Miami were valuing Haslem on a "that's how we rate Foster" sort of level.

Miami pass easily with this trade. Haslem is worth more than that package. Heat already have 3 PGs

The biggest problem with any trade involving Tinsley is that it involves Tinsley. He's got to be one of the top 10 most untradeable players (in a bad way) in the league. This is a decent idea, though, but Miami might just brush it off before the Pacers can even offer.

Truly awful for Miami. Even for Blount we'd be on the fence. We need bigs more than we need PGs. It's completely impossible with Haslem in the deal, as McRoberts is worthless to us.
