USA Today Pacers report. (recent info)

The Pacers still haven't found a team to trade Tinsley to. Team officials say they have no intention of buying out the final three years Tinsley's contract. The Pacers plan to tell Tinsley to remain at home if they can't trade him by the start of training camp on Sept. 30.
—The verdict is still out on how rookie C Roy Hibbert, who is not known for his athleticism, will fit into coach Jim O'Brien's up-tempo system.
One thing Hibbert can't be questioned about, though, is his work ethic.
Pacers coaches have raved about how hard Hibbert works and how receptive he is to criticism and praise.
Hibbert set an example for the rest of his teammates recently when he worked out with the coaching staff at Conseco Fieldhouse early in the morning and then caught a late-morning flight to New York for the NBA's rookie orientation. Hibbert will compete with Jeff Foster, Rasho Nesterovic and Troy Murphy for playing time at center this season.

Im going on record now, that Hibbert will be a big suprise

I agree. It's rare for Georgetown to develop a bad player with size. They are great teachers for big time players and he had unreal hype almost his entire career in Georgetown. I think he can be a big time star for Indy.

Considering all the fuss over Bayless vs Rush, would be funny if Hibbert had the best rookie season.

I've had the chance to watch Hibbert since high school, so none of this really surprises me that much. I've seen how much he progresses year after year and you can contribute that to the work he puts in. He'll make a lot of Pacer fans really happy this year. :)

Did he play HS ball in DC or Maryland?

He went to Georgetown Prep. It's technically in Maryland but on the border, next to DC. I went to St. John's and we played his school multiple times in the playoffs for championships, and he dominated us. We just didn't have anybody with his size. Not only was he big, but he was determined. If he got the ball anywhere deep in the post, it was a sure 2 points or 3 point play. I saw this continue when he went to Georgetown. He was not used as much because of the system, but he was still that force inside you could throw the ball into. If the other team threw a double at him, he was smart enough to recognize it quickly and get it to the open man, often resulting in a 3. I could see this translate well with Danny and Mike.

I'm excited about Hibbert, this guy is really looking impressive. I see him being a huge surprise. If he was used right at Georgetown he woulda been a top 5 pick I believe.

What position did you play? Did Hibbert dominate strictly because of his size or did he have skills as well?

Agree with this 100% He was used away from the basket too much. This is a reason why his rebounding numbers in college weren't that impressive for his size. I think O'Brien will play him the right way though, in the paint, where he can be the most effective.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I personally played in games against Hibbert. I did play point a couple years though. But, I don't go there anymore. He was also a couple years ahead of me. To answer your second question, he had skills for sure. Obviously his biggest attribute at the time was his size, but he had a couple moves he would go to in the paint. He loves the hook, and he's patient with it. He likes to feel the other guy out first, rather than just go at him aggressively. His skills were dominant at the time, and it's scary to see how much he's improved on them.

I went to High School with Stephen Curry...you know, the guy who torched Hibbert and Georgetown. He is a very cool guy, he was a year ahead of me, but obviously on varsity. I played with his younger brother on a summer team though.

Stephen Curry is a junior guard from Davidson that upset Georgetown in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament this past season. Curry scored 25 points in the final 14 minutes to come back from 17 points after the first 26 minutes. Curry was THE player for that Davidson team that made it to the Elite 8 by beating Gonzaga, Georgetown, and Wisconsin before losing to eventual champion, Kansas.

lol oh I'm still available. We might be able to work something out...wouldn't even have to pay me. I'd pay them. lol

Stephen Curry is amazing. It's crazy to say this, but he reminded me of Reggie. I can't wait till he's in the NBA. I don't know if you can say he dominated Hibbert though. It's not like he went one on one with Hibbert. He went lights out against Hibbert's team, yes.
