Since training camp started, we've been hearing about how impressive Marquis Daniels has looked. I would love to watch the game tonight and find out that the team is being honest about this and Quisy really is playing at a high level right now. My question is this...
Is the team talking so highly of Marquis because he deserves the praise, or because they're trying to get teams more interested in acquiring him in a possible deal with Tinsley?
I'm not saying this is true or has any shred of fact-based thinking to it. I'm just sorta wondering if maybe we're putting on a sell job right now try and make it easier to get a deal done. Marquis is a talented wing, there is no question about that. His first couple of years with Dallas, he was mentioned almost in the same breath as Josh Howard as their 2 young guys who helped propel the Mavs, after bursting onto the scene as an undrafted guard. Since he got here to Indy, we all know how he's performed. He'll show flashes of extremely solid play for a few games, and then look almost completely garbage for a game or two. I hope for the sake of our team that Quisy really is looking as impressive as the team has said. What do you guys think?

I guess we will see if all this talk by JO'B is true or is another PR job to raise his trade value.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little bit of PR to boost his value but more of JO'B being straight forward and truthful about his impressions of Marquis.
There are many things to consider that work in his favor that could significantly could boost Marquis production:
1 ) He no longer has to run the point and is back to playing his natural SG position
2 ) He's not injured anymore
3 ) He actually has 2 solid Screeners to receive high-post passes from
4 ) He won't have alot of burdens on the defensive end now that we have Jack on the team to help out on the perimeter.
I actually think that he will do pretty good coming off the bench with players like Ford, Rasho and Hibbert there to help him score.

I really like Marquis Daniels, I never understood why no one else seemed to.
I truly think all his injuries hindered him. He has been injured since the day he got here and on top of that we played him out of position most the year last year. I think he will be a perfect player to play along side Hibbert. Hibbert's high I.Q. in the post will benefit Daniels greatly in my opinion,

Re: Marquis Daniels: Is he really looking THAT impressive?
I've always thought he was a really good player. The problem that I have with him is that I feel like he tries to do too much sometimes. He's almost like Travis Best used to be with the mentality that once he decides he's going to shoot, HE'S GOING TO SHOOT. I just remember visions of Best pounding the ball into the court for nearly the entire shot clock some games and Daniels did that occasionally last year. Heck I hope he really is looking as good as the team says. I'm just wondering if what they're saying is real or if they're trying to shine him up nice and pretty so we can get more out of him in a trade.

he's miles ahead of Rush at this point. couldn't hid a barn last night but no one could so maybe it was training camp legs. I can make a case for trading him in January or just letting him expire in the summer, but we need him now.

It's interesting to read the comments here about Daniels. The same puzzling track record happened all the way through his time in Dallas.
He'd look all-world one game, and worthless the next.
Sometimes you'd think he was the answer, but it never would continue.
He'd look good for a few games, then sit the bench way more than was understandable.
They never could quite figure out what his best position was or how best to use him.
Never did develop a real outside shooting touch and you wondered why he never got better
And a new injury every two months, it seemed, with some of them being of the "weird" variety - muscle strains or bumps and bruises that lasted for 2-3 months rather than a week, and often so odd of an explanation that it just made you wonder what the real story was
Fans in Dallas then (and to this day) liked him, but we never figured it out. Very frustrating.
