Chad Ford's chat

Someone threw out the possibility of Dunleavy getting traded to the Clippers for Chris Kaman. What do you guys think of that?

It'll be interesting to have Foster, Kaman, and Murphy. That's three white centers. Nothing against them, but that would kinda hinder our development of Hibbert.

That would put father and son together, but if either of them is smart, they wouldn't want that. It's a favoritism quagmire waiting to happen.

I don't see any particular reason to do it, really, unless Dunleavy is injured for a long while.

Bill, Indy: What did the Pacers do to the schedule maker to deserve this?

Chad Ford: Great point. When people complain about the Pacers ... I have to step back and say ... really? It's a miracle this team is 7-11. Their second best player has been out all year, they've played the toughest schedule in the league and many of their losses have been extremely close. Meanwhile they've beat the Celtics, Lakers and Rockets. Their ugly schedule continues through this month. But after that, it gets easier. This team will be battle tested and I think will go on a major run in the second half of the season. I'm sticking with my pre-season prediction that the Pacers are a playoff team this year. Love their chemistry. Love their style of play. And Danny Granger is one of the more underrated players in the league.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Dunleavy Sr.: If Jr. plays well enough, maybe I can trade him for Chris Kaman.

Chad Ford: If he's healthy, that would be a good trade for both teams. Pacers desperately need a big man who can score. Clippers need more help at the two and three with Marcus Camby and Zach Randolph in the paint.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And last but not least...

Stephen Jackson: Never bring a knife to a GUNFIGHT!

Chad Ford: Stephen Jackson has spoken.

We do kind of lack inside scoring, but are killing in rebounding. I say wait until Mike comes back and see how he plays with granger in the starting roation with TJ running the point.

On the one hand Marquis has been playing really well to take Dunleavy's place and add an upgrade at the Center spot, but then on the other hand I want to see how Dunleavy's 3-pt shooting can help us and just the Dunleavy + Granger duo. Murphy has been pulling down plenty of boards. I haven't seen Kaman play too much, so I would have to check him out on the offensive end more. From the looks of his numbers, though, he would be an upgrade for some big-man scoring down low. It'd be perfect if Marquis could get the 3-ball to fall, but I think Kaman down low could even help Rush a lot.

We were badly beaten on the boards against Boston. We are rebounding really well this season, but after seeing them have Murphy boxed out while Foster was gone while Rajon Rondo grabbed a bunch of rebounds, I got slightly worried. I don't think Kaman is necessary, though. I think we get Hibbert working on his inside agility and jump timing.

I was just looking into this trade earlier this week, but i was trying to figure out a way to pry EJ away from them ( i know highly doubtful). The best i came up with was adding in Jack and a 1st, but still i doubt they would bite.

Gordon isnt going anywhere, we can get that thought out of our systems right now. I'm not sure how I feel on a Dunleavy for Kaman deal. On the one hand, we need rebounding and inside scoring badly, but Hibbert isnt ready to consistently contribute yet. On the other hand, I want to see how much better we are with a shooting guard who can actually shoot. Remember, Obie said that his offense was basically built around Granger and Dunleavy, so I'm anxious to see what they can do when paired up with a legit penetrating point guard like TJ.
