Lee and a bad contract for expirings, Tinsley, and a 2nd. Or maybe not Tinsley since he is signed through 2010/11, depending on what is coming back.

Re: What about trying to trade for David Lee?
Ouch, accoring to hoopshype, we have something like 59 million under contract in 2010/11 for 8 players, assuming TJ takes his PO, and we pick up the TOs on Hibbert and Rush. That is with no Rasho (don't see him staying past this year), Marquis (probably the same), Jack (a team option next year, then who knows, that's a ways away from now), no Blastin' Baston, Diener, Graham, or McRoberts. Plus if we did trade for Lee, assume he gets 8 mill that'll make it 67 million. Trade contracts of Tinsley for Curry and we're up another 3-4 million, so roughly 71 million for 10 guys. Then in 2011/12 we would only have 4 guys under contract, we got Granger locked up, and assuming the team options on Hibbert and Rush makes it 3, and the signing of Lee would probably be at least 3 years. Assuming Lee now gets 8.5 Million we're only at 26 million for 4 guys, or without Lee only 17.5. That obviously doesn't include any draft picks which would be 2-4 mill a year, and no other trades or signings (which we would have to do the previous years to fill up the roster).
Well I am done trying to do all this number crunching and all.

So the Knicks' roster is glorified enough to have the likes of Jerome James inhabiting its roster, but wouldn't be happy to add a young and talented big like a Roy Hibbert? Or a young swingman with some upside in Brandon Rush?
This is the same team that has Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson in their starting 5, correct?
Jerome James isn't coming back, the point of letting Lee walk instead of making a sign and trade is to get under the cap for 2010. Getting back players like Tinsely and Daniels wont help us. We'd rather have the flexibility of signing two players for the max instead of taking players back.

I wonder how Knicks fans are going to react in 2010 if LeBron resigns with Cleveland and they end up with something like Joe Johnson and Steve Nash.

They still have either Wade or Bosh to sign.

I bet Wade stays in Miami. Remember, they'll have cap room too, and who doesnt want to play in Miami?
I think Chris Bosh is overrated. He is good, but he's not the great prize everyone is making him out to be. I think he has to team up with someone like LeBron or Wade to win a title, I dont think he can be the focal point of a title winning team. Just my opinion.

Miami is looking to target Boozer in 2009. As for 2010, Amare, Dirk, Carmelo, and Manu are also free agents. It's a big list, I wouldn't mind ending up with Amare and Joe Johnson.

Who says Boozer is even going to opt out? With his injury (I dont even know whats wrong with the goober), there is some doubt as to whether he will opt out or not.
Amare and Joe Johnson teamed back up with Mike D'Antoni. Hmmm...recreating the 2004 Suns? Minus the elite point guard? You better hope you can land LeBron. Oh, and Carmelo is not part of that 2010 class.

Re: What about trying to trade for David Lee?
If we traded Rasho for example for Lee/Curry. We'd then be stuck with curry and have to resign Lee which would be impossible because we'd be over the Luxury tax. If we keep Rasho and let his deal expire we'll be well under the tax and not have a dud like Curry. I like Lee as a player but like I said in my earlier post we won't be able to resign him and we can't get him one for one for JT so what's the point of taking about this.

My apologies on Carmelo but on Boozer opting out, you never know. Arenas got a big contract sidelined most of the season, Boozer may also get one. Doesn't mean he or Arenas justified it and I do take into consideration that Arenas is the suprior player of the two.
I wouldn't mind recreating the 2004 Suns on the Knicks, sure Amare and Johnson will be older but the Knicks are currently treading water with Duhon. You don't need an elite point guard to make the finals. Also the Suns got hurt with a Joe Johnson injury down the stretch against the Spurs that season, who know what could have happened.
Regardless winning a title isn't easy and the 2010 free agent class does not give the Knicks a title automatically, they would have to earn it first but after the being at the bottom of the basement with Isiah Thomas and Scott Layden their is a light at the end of the tunnel. The hope is to return to the title contention years of the Knicks in the 90s and hopefully to accomplish finals victory like the Knicks did ~40 years ago.

You cannot possibly be serious can you? This statement is ludacris...I give Lee all the respect in the world but there is no way the Knicks turn down a guy who is not only one of the top 5 scorers in the game right now, but a guy that still has a tremendous upside...Some people may not agree but I still don't think Danny's hit his peak yet...When he starts to find his niche going to the hole then he will become near unstoppable. Im sorry and I dont mean to sound rude but your comment is invalid on a multitude of levels.
Once they have that golden shining moment and it comes to them in a dream or whatever and they understand that, that's when this team and this franchise will go to another level from where it was when I was here.
