Our Announcers

Post#1 » by Crossova21 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 3:05 am

I hope it isnt just me, but has anyone else noticed how they ALWAYS seem to root for the other team? Clark Kellogg does it the most but Quinn Buckner and Chris Denari do the exact same thing. Stacy Paetz, too. She is always interviewing the other team after the game.

I dont know...just seems a little strange. I think Kellogg is trying to be big-time when he really isn't. He does some of the college games and got on NBA 2k9 and now it's all going to his head. I understand that he's trying to be unbiased but we get enough criticism from everybody else.

I think you're being a bit too much of a homer. Our announcers are some of the best in the league, in my opinion. They are some of the most un-biased game announcers that I've ever heard, as far as team announcers go. They're not supposed to be homers. I think they do a very good job for us.

I think the difference between our announcers and other teams announcers is that ours are not very biased. They root for the Pacers, but they call it like it is. Other announcers favor their team, extremely in some cases(Celtics), but the Pacers announcers just call the game like you would hear on ESPN or whatever.

I'd prefer our announcers to blind homer announcers any day of the week. I do understand where your coming from though.

I actually think the opposite. Where do you get that they are always cheering for the other team? They went nuts when Murphy had that tip-in to beat the Lakers and for Granger's three to beat Phoenix. The reason Stacy Paetz is always interviewing the players on other teams is because we get beat more often than not, and she usually interviews someone from the winning team.

Kellogg is kind of big time too. He's CBS's lead college basketball announcer, replacing Billy Packer. He is one of the best in the business if you ask me.

I really like Kellogg and think he is really down to earth. I don't think anything went to his head from being an announcer on a video game. I do know what you mean though. Like tonight when Jack got called for the foul late in the game and Buckner was like "Jack just asked the ref what he did" and Bucker said something along the lines of you grabbed him! And went on to say he would defend him if it was close and blah blah blah. It was late in the game, I was still yelling at my tv that it was a bad call. He should agree with me, but it really is better for them to be unbiased... Most of the time.

So instead of being a professional QB should've acted like Jarrett didn't foul on the play. I don't know why JJ even asked what he did afterwards because it was an intentional, but since it would've probably been a turnover by the Celtics he acted like he wasn't trying to grab at Glen Davis. I'll take un-biased professional announcers over homers like the Celtics have (Tommy Heinson is THE worst I've ever heard). The Hornets announcers are downright ridiculous as well. The game on MLK day was on NBA League Pass and it was the Hornets' broadcast. I had to mute my television because their announcers were downright disrespectful.

Oh yeah, I agree. Really want I meant is I am biased and was yelling at my tv. At first I really didn't see the foul, but even after the replay I didn't think it was horrible. I was just trying to point out an instance where he could've been a homer and biased, but wasn't. He is less biased than I am, but I like him. The only thing I don't like much about him is how he acts like he knows everything. 10 times a game he says "I knew he was going to do that" or something. Many of the times he is right, it just gets annoying when he points it out all the time. He is an NBA analyst and former player making statements that regular fans know, but he points it out a lot. I liked Al Albert more than Chris Denari. I didn't like Denari much at all at first just because his voice kind of annoyed me. He has improved a lot and I don't mind him much anymore.

I don't like our announcers. They always get our players names wrong, calling TJ Ford "Travis Ford" and calling Brandon Rush "Brandon Roy". It's just annoying. They do that to more than just them too but i'm too tired to type it all out.

Thats why you mute the tv and listen to Mark and Slick on 1070 the Fan. They are a million times better than the ones on the tv.

Sometimes Kellog gets on my nerves when he tries to be too objectionable when replays show a bad call against us. Like he is lobbying to be one of Stern's puppets. Overall his oratory skills are indeed suffice.

I underestimated Denari at first, but after further review his knowledge is greater than expected. He is pretty solid.

Buckner is my favorite though. He seems to have the best nose for what is actually happening on the court, forseeing many calls before the referee 's even react. He takes advantage of his great view to say the least.

Paetz is also very good at courtside. As far as interviewing the opposition, if they are victorious than why not? I don't mind.

I typically like our announcers. Buckner is pretty good and calls it like he sees it, and I was skeptical of Denari at first, but he's actually not bad. Kellogg's one of the best.

I've never had a problem with our announcers, I actually really like them. I've never noticed them rooting against us.

Many announcer teams in the league are horrible. The Pacers are the least biased in general.

Oh man the Suns broadcasters drive me nuts. The Suns never do anything wrong.

The Suns aren't near as bad as the Celtics announcers.

Hands down, Celtics announcers are THE WORST in the league.
