That typical crappy Chatard education... Ahh yes. Cathedral guy? Their classroom made of diamonds and gold is awesome. If Brebeuf, well, no comment needed. If Roncalli then we have something to talk about. I don't know of any public school rivalries. I am guessing Cathedral. I know, I know, high school football fans are jealous of all of our state championships.
I don't know about the crappy education, but the crappy facilities definitely works. My dad went to Chatard 30 or so years ago, and they called it the Sh*t yard back then, probably more back then because it works with Chatard. They changed VERY little from the time he went and I went. I hear they fixed everything up, I don't like it. My education has made me a genious and me be greatly smart.
I hate how I have to bring up football to defend Chatard. By the time I was a senior I wanted our team to lose, my friends were getting too cocky. We lost, the only time we have lost state... I laughed.
By 1997, the school was showing its age. Paint was peeling, windows and roofs were leaky, and facilities sorely needed an upgrade. To remedy the situation and remodel the 35 year-old building, school administrators embarked on a $2 million capital campaign to pay for new windows, a new roof, electrical improvements, and other needed renovations. These were undertaken over the summer, and when students arrived to begin the 1997-1998 school year, they were in what was virtually a whole new building.
On wiki, that is complete BS from what I have seen/heard.

**** Cathedral...**** Brebeuf.Growing up Irish Catholic in Indy, I have ties to almost all of the Catholic HS's, except for Brebeuf.
Most of my sisters graduated from Scecina in the '60's and early '70's, though the two youngest graduated from Tech (we lived a block away, and it was WAR! with my dad when Jeanne and Shari announced they wanted to finish at Tech instead of the Catholic (and relatively far away) Scecina.) My Brother graduated from Latin School.
Two brothers-in-law graduated from Cathedral, and two of my Nephews graduated recently from Roncalli (last 5-6 years). No relatives from Chatard, but two really good friends, both graduated in the late '80.
We are the Ritter Raiders
We strive for victory
In everything we conquer
As all our foes will see
We are the Ritter Raiders
So shout it very loud
It's R-A-I-D-E-R-S
for a Raider Vic-to-ry!(Wow, that's even dumber than I remember.)
I myself, graduated from Ritter in 1984, and I had a niece and a nephew who graduated from there in the '90's.
"Lubricated!" (Trojans!) was the cali breakdown in Football Practice during the week preceding the Chatard game, which generally culminated in a complete ass kicking,
not administered by us. My senior year was the first year of the "Cluster" system, and Ritter was ranked 4th in 2A...which would have been fantastic had we not been in the same cluster with #1 Chatard and #2 Cathedral. We went 7-3, losing to Chatard, Cathedral, and the #1 3A Roncalli (who lost in the 3A finals).
IIRC, we were tied 7-7 in the second quarter against Chatard, driving down inside the 20 to take the lead. We ran a toss sweep left, but our QB threw the toss right, and before we knew it, we down 21-7 at half, and 42-7 by the end of the quarter.
Since only 1 team from each cluster made the playoffs, both Cathedral and Ritter sat at home. Chatard opened against undefeated #3 Speedway (me and my friends knew and hung around with some of their players), and to our extreme joy, Chatard crushed Speedway at Speedway. John Sahm was the QB on that team, and they had a little running back that was awfully good, but his name escapes me at the moment.
