Shawne Williams Trade

Post#1 » by Crossova21 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:28 pm

I know this should probably be put in the draft thread and may have already been discussed. But looking at this year's draft I noticed that the Pacers receive two second round picks from the Mavs. Unless I'm missing something, I believe that gives us four picks this draft (1st rd, our 2nd rd, and the Mavs two 2nd rd). This draft really isnt that deep and there has been talk that teams will be willing to trade out of the draft if they don't get Griffin.

I don't know how valuable the 2nd rounders are but could we possibly trade them for another 1st rounder, maybe even another lottery pick. I was thinking we could take a PF with one pick and a PG with the other.

Probably won't happen but what if a team is willing to trade a top-three pick for ours. I would love to see Rubio or Hill in a Pacers jersey.

I can dream right?

I could maybe see a team with a late 1st rounder that would be willing to deal for a couple 2nd rounders in order to duck the guaranteed contract. I can't see any of those picks netting a top-3 selection though. That's crazy talk.

We traded our 2nd to the Heat in a previous deal and I believe one of the Dallas 2nd's comes next year. So we really only have 2 picks, ours and a late 2nd.

When did we do a deal with Miami? Not saying it didn't happen. I just don't remember anything.

It was the 2007 draft night deal that got us the lovely and talented Stanko Barack!

That only cost us a 2nd round pick? I figured it was at least 3 future firsts! Silly Heat, best trade for us ever!

No, it was just one second. We had already traded away that year's pick.

Bingo. It was that deal that cost us our second round pick in the Stanko draft.

You guys think we will pick and stash another foreign player with the DAL pick?

Probably. I am hoping we get Greveis Vasquez if he is still available and stays in the draft (if he is still available he shouldn't be in the draft).

I'd just as much prefer it to be traded than have my hopes raised yet again by foreign talent.

Perhaps we can get the GS scouts on the phone for our 2nd round pick. They seem to know their stuff.

GS scouts are the best personnel in that organization's front office, it seems.

Mullin made mistakes, but learned quickly and turned that team around.

Then, they made the mistake of bringing in Don Nelson who quickly turned that team back around and out the door to the lottery land.
