shugknight wrote:Hey guys, Bulls fan here. Thanks for the props on DRose. But I agree with everyone here in regards to Garnett. Seems like ever since he's won a ring, he thinks hes on top of the world and that nobody can touch him. I sure hope that one day, this season or next, somebody gets sick of his dumb antics and teaches him a lesson.

I was just LMAO when the camera kept panning to Garnett and he had that "evil" look in his eye and that eerily grin on his face. He looked like an idiot that had an overbite. lol I agree 1000000% with you guys when you say that you don't respect somebody that talks trash while sitting on the bench. Injured or not, he needs to keep his mouth shut and encourage his team and not try to show up Aaron Gray, Lindsey Hunter, Linton Johnson, or any of the other guys that are on the bench.

Well said. Btw, best of luck vs. Boston. I'm pulling for you guys.

I hate the city of Chicago (bad roommte from there in the past forever ruined the city for me), but I'm pulling for the Bulls in this one. Rose is amazing and fun to watch. Young players coming together in the playoffs, kind of a fun team to watch.

I hate the city of Boston (okay, I love it, but from a sports perspective, they are tied with LA for most spoiled brats who don't have respect for the game) but I'm hopefully going to see game 5.

I don't really care about people who get fired up on the bench. However, I'd kill to have Garnett on the floor for the Pacers.

He returned a moribund franchise to greatness, and he's the difference between a serious championship contender and a possible (likely?) first round ouster.

Anyone would be mad to say they wouldn't want someone like him.

He is an elite two way anchor, someone who demands attention on both ends of the floor.
I honestly believe the only reason his offensive numbers have been reduced is simply his decision making. Surrounded by offensive talent, he has simply applied more effort on defense and his quality passing, which as a 6-10 guy is phenomenal.

There is only one big man i would prefer to have as my go to guy and that's Tim Duncan.

It depends on team needs, but I would take Dwight over Garnett on the Pacers. I guess I am biased b/c I dislike Garnett and like Howard (like him b/c I think he is really good, though).

As a building block you are correct. In a playoff run? I'll take Garnett.

Until Dwight gets deep into the post season, it should be Garnett every time.

In a playoff run? Garnett is on the bench. His knees are shot. He's got a TON of mileage. At this point, I don't know that you can count on his health for a full season+playoffs anymore.

Agreed. If you're going to talk about right now and speak who would help you win 16 playoff games, you must consider the fact that Garnett isn't healthy and probably will never be 100% again. It's a no brainier to pick Dwight Howard over Kevin Garnett even if you're only getting him for the playoff run. Howard will play and dominate. Not so sure KG would....

Wait a sec... Garnett was known as the guy that couldn't lead his team to a playoff series. He has been on only 2 teams that have gotten out of the first round. Garnett is a good player, but he needs 2 other stars with him to win a championship. It took him 9 seasons to win a playoff series. The Magic already won a playoff series last year. He did have some better teammates in Turkoglu and Lewis. Turkoglu has gotten a lot better because of Howard, though. Garnett also had teammates like Marbury (when he was good), Tom Gugliotta (again, when good), Chauncey Billups, Wally (decent then, too), Sprewell, Cassell, AND.... RASHO!

I'm just saying that Dwight doesn't have his aggressive streak yet. Great player putting up fantastic numbers, but he has to get mean. When that day comes he will easily the best option for a championship bid.

Also, I don't think you can pin that T'Wolves disaster on Garnett. Sprewell was still Sprewell. His ego alone was enough distraction. Chauncey was a shadow of his current self, Cassell was, well Cassell and very solid. As for Gugliotta, you're refeerring to 1995-96 through 1997-98 and therefore a very young Garnett, so I'm not sure how that's into consideration, and Wally was simply a bench spark.

I mean Michael Olawakandi was a big part of the rotation, enough said.

As for the first round exits, the 2002-03 season featured neither Cassell nor Sprewell, so in effect the number two scoring option on that team was Wally, with the third top scorer being Troy Hudson. Not exactly a stacked offensive unit. They were also dispatched in the playoffs by the Kobe/Shaq Lakers, so that's not exactly unreasonable.

In 2003-04 they progressed to the Western Conference Finals, only to be dispatched by the Kobe/Shaq Lakers. While he had Cassell and Sprewell at that point, Garnett was the only pure star on that team with decent scoring options with him.

Take note of the Shaq-less Lakers. Kobe's team was bumped from the first round but it can't be down to him being a bad player now can it?

For 2004-05 the 8 man rotation for the Wolves was Garnett, Olawakandi, Eddie Griffin, Troy Hudson, Trenton Hassell, Szczerbiak, a 35 year old Cassell and 34 year old Sprewell. I doubt anyone could turn that cast into an NBA champion, especially with Kobe/Shaq and Duncan's Spurs around.
