Go back Pacer fans

Post#1 » by pacershereiam » Tue Apr 28, 2009 10:23 pm

What if we took Rajon Rondo instead of Shawne Williams? We would of been able to trade Tinsley earlier most likely. Can you imagine where we would be?
Rondo/Jack
Rush/Dunleavy
Granger/Graham
Murphy
Hibbert

I think we would be a fun team. Rondo is a good defensive player and can create on his own. I like him as a player, but hate him since he is with Boston lol.

The problem with changing the past is that it would also change the future, meaning no Brandon Rush or Roy Hibbert.

I don't like Rondo. I don't want him. I think his stats are positively skewed because he has great teammates. I am biased and don't like him, though, so I won't give him enough credit.

I think you can make a case that Rondo's development has been accelerated by his teammates as well. I doubt he becomes the same player without those guys around him so it wouldn't be the same. It's always interesting to look back on what might have been though.

If we would've lost 3 or possibly 4 more games last year we would have Derrick Rose. That is if the lottery isn't rigged. Hmmm, I wonder what we would have down with JO? I will settle for Blake Griffin.

I hate the "what if" game. There are so many variables involved that you can't possibly know how it would have turned out, especially with someone like Rondo. He was put in the perfect situation in Boston and I'm not sure he would have become the player he is today had he played on any other team. In fact, I can pretty much guarantee he wouldn't be the player he is today if he were in a different situation.

What if we drafted Gilbert Arenas instead of Jamaal Tinsley?

The list stretches on an on, and Rajon Rondo is, in the big scheme, one of our less painful what ifs.

Kobe instead of Dampier

Parker or Arenas instead of Tinsley

Redd instead of Brezec

We missed out on some big time players.

^^Worst mistake ever. Reggie Miller was an NBA bust. Unathletic, no defense, too skinny to be durable. Also, talked weird and had messed up teeth.

How good is Rondo when he isn't surrounded by Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett? Don't forget, I know he was young, but the year before those 2 big trades, Rondo couldn't beat out Delonte West.

I'd take Rondo any day. He's far from a product of the players around him in Boston. He's one of the quickest guys in the league, rebounds extremely well for his size (which means he has great instincts) and he doesn't force his shot.
