Thanks for the insight Tommy. Nice to have someone closer to the situation give us some input.

Murphy isn't untradeable, but I'm not sure he's what the Bulls need. He gets most of his points on the perimeter. Generally, he gets the defensive rebound and passes it to a guard who pushes the ball up court. He plays the trailer on the break and usually is left open for a three pointer at the top of the key. Basically what I'm saying is, he is a perimeter scorer more so than a beast in the post like I think Chicago needs.

Yeah, Murphy is not what the Bulls need. He's too perimeter oriented. The Bulls are kind of in the same boat we are, they need someone who can score consistently in the low block.

You guys are right: Murphy isnt exactly what Bulls need. However, it is doubtful Amare or Bosh are actually being traded. If Wiz get # 1 overall, Jamison may be available.

Bulls do have enough expirings to make a trade for any PF that becomes available. They have Miller, Tim Thomas & James. In addition, Tyrus is on his last guaranteed rookie contract year & Salmons is almost certain to opt of his last year. So that is 3 expiring deals plus 2 others which are essentially expiring - for a combined total of almost $30 million.

I'm sure Bird and Obie really like Troy Murphy, but I'm also sure they'd listen to any decent offers that would help the team defensively. Offense isn't really a problem for us, but defense really is.

I'm not sure that Bird would really want to gut the talent we have and move him for straight expirings, but I'm sure they'd move him if they got some defensive answer in return.

Honestly, if you guys still had Ben Wallace languishing around, I would think that Bird might listen to a Murphy/Wallace type deal as it would allow some fiscal flexibility, and supposedly help us defensively at the big man positions. I mean, Wallace is seriously on the downside, but can still help defensively in a team defense concept.

I'm not sure that there's any real matchup between Indy and Chicago involving Murphy. Indy would probably like Ty Thomas, but wouldn't want to give up Rush, but maybe would give up the #13, but it would really depend on what contract TT would get in return. However, Chicago would probably want something of value in return with Murphy for letting TT go, but I'm not sure Indy can offer that up.

Plus, Murphy might only be a last ditch option for the Bulls if they strike out on their real options, and don't feel like they can get a Chris Bosh or Amare to come to Chicago in 2010.

First, I think things get blown entirely out of proportion with the media. They act as if guys do not get along like a Disney musical that they cannot co-exist or that bad relationships cannot be fixed. Del Negro is a first year head coach and Thomas is still young. Things between the two can certainly be fixed, if there is really any problem at all.

If things really cannot be worked out, TT would be perfect for a trade like Boston did in getting KG with Jefferson. If Bosh, Amare, or any other PF is serious about leaving a team, Chicago is certainly one of the top destinations behind LA, MIA, and NY. If faced with getting nothing or accepting a S & T of say Hinrich and TT for that PF, I would say Chicago gets its PF.

As for us getting TT, I just do not see a deal.
