If you haven't seen this show it is awesome. It is on at 10. Will Ferrell will make it some of the best tv ever. Sorry mods, I am making you do work. I was going to post it in OT, but it starts in like 30 minutes. cdash, you better watch it. Go do some cookijf and you'll have a great time.
Sorry M4E or PR07, you can move this to OT. Or if you are very mad at me you can do the LOCKDOWN. I won't do it again... For a while.
Oh yeah, it is on the Discovery Channel. It is so good that I am watching it instead of the Cardinals. I actually get to see the Cards game b/c it's against the Reds. Don't want to miss this, though.
Now back to basketball talk.

I watched some of the game. I watched more of the other series, actually. I wonder what the ratings of this series will be like compared to Penguins vs. Caps. Pens need to win the next one, too.

grang33r, it seems like you are an all-around type sports guy, I like it. A lot of people are just football and basketball (especially in Indiana). Hockey is fun to watch, especially during the playoffs. Baseball is good if you really like a team or are at the game. Or if you watch a game while doing something else, like posting on RealGM.

Yeah I love sports. I'd say my favorite are basketball and hockey. I'm a baseball fan too (Cubs) and football (Buffalo).
As for the ratings, NBA will blow NHL out of the water, especially game 1 when NHL goes head to head with the NBA. lol

I meant the Pens vs. Wings series compared to Pens vs. Caps. NBA has a much bigger following. But I wonder if the Ovechkin/Crosby match-up will come close to the finals.

Oh. Yeah. I assume it will. Mainly because besides games 3 and 4, finals are on NBC. But Detroit is very popular as is Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh winning tonight really helped the NHL a lot, because nobody likes one-sided finals series.

Oooh yeah, NBC vs. Versus is a big deal. I had friends that watched Pitt and Washington that won't watch the finals except for game 6 and/or 7. Only like 63% of homes with cable get Versus. I would like to see tonight's game compared to the Pitt Washington series.
I guess my main point is that people that don't watch much hockey may have watched the other series and won't watch the finals. I watched 5 games of the other series and have barely watched any of the finals. Well for one they had game 1 on a Saturday and I was out. I watched a little Sunday, but was busy with something. And then tonight I couldn't pass on a few shows. I think Crosby vs. Ovechkin was more of must-see hockey. I will definitely start watching more hockey as it gets later in the series.
I will watch all the NBA games. Actually, I heard the hockey game is Thursday, is that right? And the NBA Finals start Thursday? That's kinda dumb.

The difference between the two IMO is, NBA, there isn't a lot of great teams. Round 1 was kinda boring. Bulls/Celtics and 76ers/Magic was ok too, but that Bulls series took most of the air time. Round 2 we had Houston/Lakers and Magic/Celtics. However, both semi-finals were outstanding. Maybe some of the best basketball i've seen in years. And the final, i mean, all those shooters on Orlando and Superman vs. Gasol, Kobe and Los Angeles. It's must see TV.
In the NHL, most matchups in round 1 were awesome. Because theres so much parity in hockey, with a crazy low salary cap, with lots of young stars from the recent several drafts. As the games went on, the much better teams came out and over powered the other teams. Carolina/Pittsburgh was a snooze fest. As was Detroit/Chicago. Round 2 was NHL's best (carolina/boston, wash/pitt, chi/van, det/ana) all were great matchups. NHL playoffs have gotten worse as they went on while NBA have gotten better, which is probably the way it should be.
David Stern is an amazing marketing guy. Gives his league a week off from conference finals to finals to gain hype and talk. Few days after the semi's, we all still talked James and Nuggets, but now that seems ages ago and everyone is talking Magic and Lakers and we're still 2 days away from tip-off.
NHL rushed it's series because they wanted to use the week where NBA was off to it's advantage. It back fired because they missed out on hyping the series, and games 1 and 2 were very one-sided for Detroit. Pittsburgh got out played tonight as well but won but still, the finals is an amazing event for the 2 clubs' fanbases, but for the rest of the country and the world, it's to showcase your top 2 teams, top athletes, and showcase your league. NHL showcase is, well.... one sided battle. NBA is showcasing what truly could be a really awesome series.

Re: Watch Man vs. Wild tonight with Will Ferrell!
And like i said earlier, i live outside of Buffalo. It's a huge hockey market. I mean, when i went to Indiana few years ago for a Pacers game, i loved seeing basketball hoops on every drive way. Here, not that many people have basketball hoops, and if you go into the suburbs in the winter time, most people have build outdoor ice rinks where kids play ice hockey 2v2 or just skate. In Rochester alone, there is like 11 indoor hockey rinks and most are state of the art. High school hockey games here average around 2-3k fans, unless you're Greece (NYS champs) who got like 4k per. In this area, we have 3 D1 college programs (RIT and Niagara always near top 15), a junior Canadian hockey league team (Niagara, who play in USA but are in Canadian league) and draw 6k people, a AHL hockey team Rochester who averages 7k per and a NHL team Buffalo. RIT, has been D1 for 4 seasons now, so last year they were eligible for "frozen four" play in a tiny rink where it holds 3.5K fans, they sell out each game, tix cost $15 but scalpers sell them for like $40, play at a downtown rink vs. big opponents (cornell, boston college) and get like 11k fans.
This area is crazy for hockey. It's unreal. I honestly don't know one person who doesn't know stuff about hockey. Everyone seems hockey educated.

Wow, yeah that's pretty nuts up there near Buffalo. I have never even been ice-skating. Bummer.
