T'Wolves and their picks
Just noticed a wiretap headline saying the T'Wolves are listening to offers for their 1st round picks.
They have 3 - the 6th, 18th and 28th and Kahn mentions they need guard play.
We have Tinsley (and I guess TJ) that potentially may interest them and given the Kahn has links with the Pacers do you believe there may be some possibilities to get the T'Wolves pick?

They may have some interest in Ford, but definitely not Tinsley. Their owner Glen Taylor has a no-Tinsley policy.

Re: T'Wolves and their picks
I saw a couple weeks ago that they had 3 first rounders and the first thing I thought of was how we could get 1 of them. There's no way they keep all 3 of them. We could get the #6 pick and contract player for our #13 and Ford I think.
Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it's bobsled time!

Why does everyone hate tj ford? I get it but unless we get a legit player or potential players back in return with the pick would it even begin to be worth it. You draft a guy with 0 guarantee they'll be any good, at least with Tj you know what you have. A reasonable starter on a tough contract. That contract will expire someday, and we'll have a shot at resigning him or moving that expiring deal.
13 to 6 in a weak draft doesn't seem worth surrendering a starter to me.

Re: T'Wolves and their picks
Why does every1 think people hate a player just b/c we can get good value for trading him? I LOVED Reggie, but would've traded him for Jordan. That is obviously an extreme example, but if we can get good value for Ford then we should do it.
I will say that I thought he would be our PG of the future. I don't think so anymore.

Re: T'Wolves and their picks
I don't think the guys who propose TJ trades automatically are TJ-haters.
By sending TJ out, we could get a young veteran big man that can really help us in the post. It would also enable us to take one of the many PG's in this draft class, without breaking a sweat.
If we could get the 6th pick, then the other guys' dream of drafting Holiday could be achieved, we could get Curry, Evans, Jennings, or we might even have a shot on Jordan Hill.
More than our backcourt, i think the more serious issue is on our frontcourt. Fortifying our frontcourt.
It could open a lot of possibilities. And i believe it would actually be better than just drafting at 13, yes it is safer, but with the 6th pick, how could you go wrong?

Re: T'Wolves and their picks
I am one of those who really wants a Jennings or Holiday in the draft, but at the same time, i realize neither of them can lead our team next season. If we do trade Ford, which i am for, because i don't think anyone is untouchable if you can improve your team, although Granger is untouchable, if you can improve the team, make the deal. No matter who it is. But, if trading Ford away, leaves us with Jack and Holiday at PG for the full season, we are probably going to be back in the lottery next season.
Although, i honestly wouldn't mind just one more losing season and picking up one of the PF next season..... just saying... lol

Re: T'Wolves and their picks
I'm still in belief that our big plans will come during the 2010-11 off season, when a majority of our contracts will be expirings. If this is indeed the case, then I'm all for picking up a Jennings, Holiday or Evans (if possible) in this draft. I could live with adding to the core in the next year or so before we go all out for a championship bid.

Pretty much on the same page huh?
Well, yeah, i don't really expect the Pacers to win the championship next season, but i expect this team to be at least in the 1st round of the playoffs as a best case scenario.
I agree, the 2010-2011 might be our breakthrough year, with all the expiring contracts we have (Murphy, Dunleavy, Ford, Foster, and Tinsley), that makes me thankful and also a bit worried.
Seriously, among all those guys, Murphy's the only one i'd re-sign, and maybe Ford if he's not gonna be dealt til his contract year (which i believe is unlikely).

I'm just in hope that at that time there will be enough quality options to go after. Foster would most likely be on a much cheaper contract if he were to re-sign past 2011, I agree with Murphy, but since he has been paid so well in his current deal, he owes us a solid.

I really want to be in the playoffs next year. We need playoff experience, and it kills me to watch the playoffs without us in it. I don't expect us to make a deep run by any means, but if we make the playoffs as a 6-8 seed and give Cleveland, Orlando, or Boston a tough fight, then that really breeds a lot of confidence in our players, especially the young guys.

And Foster would be 34 years old in 2011. A renewal of contract for him would be unlikely.
Yeah, Murph's present contract's kinda huge, but i'm optimistic Murphy's still going to improve, especially now that his role in this team's been defined.
Hope we could move Dunleavy once he's healthy enough.

Re: T'Wolves and their picks
^I was about to post something like, "I really think Murphy hit his apex last year", but I stopped because I remembered that he kept adding little wrinkles to his game as the season went on. He started doing more pump fakes on his three pointers and taking the ball to the hoop, drawing more fouls in the process. I think if he worked on getting one or two legit post moves this summer, then he could improve even more.
