Not really anything that everyone didn't already know. I love how there are 5 million different Draft analysis sites, that pretty much all say the same thing.

Yeah, we need a future at PG, but we also need a powerful scoring/defensive presence in the paint at PF.

Here's a question I pose to Pacer fans here: Do you target at PG now or do you wait? Keep in mind if the Pacers wait with what they have, they will have the money to sign away Mike Conley come 2011.

you have to take what the draft gives you. I think that'll probably be a point guard this year given that the draft is week on bigs but I wouldn't be shocked if we took a wing as insurance on Mike D. I suppose the X factor could be Blair. will he go higher? is he an NBA four? he's got the reach but so did Ike.

Why in the world is everyone so enamored with Mike Conley? I realize he's a hometown kid and all but he really hasn't shown much. Not enough to pass up on some of the PG's available in this draft anyway. He's been given the chance to shine in Memphis and really hasn't produced. Hell TJ Ford put up better numbers in every major category except 3PT %, and they played the exact same minutes per game. I just don't get why several people on here think Mike Conley of all the PG's we could possibly get is going to be the one to take our team to the next level. I would take Jennings, Maynor, Flynn, or even Ty Lawson over Conley any day of the week.

Crazy talk. He'll be better than Lawson and Maynor for sure. Give him time. His situation has been poor in Memphis, as we have discussed on this board ad nauseum.

The fact that "he'll be better" is still being mentioned is my point. He's been in the league 2 years now and he's had plenty of PT to prove himself in Memphis and hasn't really done much of anything. I realize that Memphis isn't exactly stocked with talent but they do have good scorers for him to distribute to and he hasn't done it. I think he's a serviceable PG, but that's all he'll ever be (in my opinion). The way some people in Indy talk about him, you would think he's going to be the answer to all of our problems and will magically become a star PG if we sign him. He's just not the caliber of player that you don't draft a PG and bank on him signing with your team in a couple of seasons.

Okay, watch a Grizzlies game. When Iavaroni was still coach, they took the ball out of his hands. OJ Mayo has the ball in his hands a ton, and Conley can't really do the things he needs to do. Plus, if you'd notice, he played really well when Hollins took over as coach. His defense is the best part of his game, but you forget, he's the same age as Lawson (I actually think he might be younger). Give him a better situation and he will be good.
