it rarely makes sense to be upset about a pick. we just don't have as much information as the team does. if they take Lawson, you have to trust their judgment and least for a while. for example, I sure like Rush a lot better than what I saw out of Bayless when Portland was in town last year and yet lots of people were really, really upset when we traded him. be surprised if you want but hold your anger.

that said, both Lawson and Flynn strike me a too short if TJ is in our long term plans. now giving up on TJ wouldn't upset me because I just didn't think he improved as the year went on last year while Jack really did. time will tell whether TJ will rise to that challenge or not.

It's only natural. We make up our minds about a player just the same as anyone in the organization does. Just because they have more information available doesn't mean they are going to be right. I will still support Lawson if he's drafted, but I won't be happy about it. And I don't think TJ is in our long term plans, but you are right, the ball is in his court (pun not intended). If he comes out like gangbusters next year and learns to buck some of those bad habits he has, then that could easily change.

I think Lawson has a good chance to be really good. I wouldn't be too upset if we drafted him. Hollinger's Draft Rater has him as the top prospect. And the article on DraftExpress rating the PGs also shows how he has far and away outperformed the competing prospects.

"The marquee attraction was at point guard where North Carolina's Ty Lawson, UCLA's Jrue Holiday, Wake Forest's Jeff Teague and Florida State's Toney Douglas worked out. Pittsburgh's DeJuan Blair and Michigan State's Goran Suton were the big men the Pacers brought in.

I hear (the media doesn't get to watch the workouts) Lawson looked the best of all the point guards because he has good court awareness and a natural feel for the position."

It does say he struggled against Holiday though.

Holiday is my dream pick. Deal TJ Ford, the 13th pick, and a six-pack of PBR for Etan Thomas and #5, pick Holiday, and rejoice.

I don't get the Holiday thing. I get the trade - that would be awesome. But how do you go with such a non-producer that high up (honestly, I think Holiday could fall close to our position). My vote would be for Stephen Curry - someone much more proven.

Holiday's stats are not indicative of his talent though. He played out of position a lot and wasn't allowed to play to his strengths at all. He's freakishly long (pause) for a PG and was basically right there with Brandon Jennings as far as best PG's in the country before college.

Don't get me wrong - I like Holiday as a prospect. Just at 13, not 5. At 5, I don't think he's given any reason for going that high. Kinda like Jennings. These guys were great high school players, but since then... not a lot.

Neither did Westbrook, look how hes doing.

Lets say you liked Flynn - if he played at SG in college, his stats would be a bad reflection on him as well.

At 17 ppg, I think Flynn would've done fine at SG. At 8 ppg, Holiday, you can't really equate him to Westbrook (who I loved as a prospect because of his crazy athleticism). Not sure what Holiday has showed at all. Zero points, one assist, and three turnovers in 33 minutes vs. Arizona St.? One game all season scoring more than 15 points - 20 points vs. Florida International? He has some potential, especially defensively, but nothing says to me that he's all that special, especially offensively.

There's a reason why teams are looking at him in the top 5 (potentially top 3) of the draft.

Flynn's stats were fine, no matter the position label. Holiday was definitely not in a position to prosper. Regardless, teams want potential and Jrue has plenty.
