OK, fine, I will back-off the Artest thing. Rescind. I still want Shaq. How do you get a player off the books? A career ending injury? If he went to jail we would still have his contract, wouldn't we?

Jail is a gray area. Injury is still gray as well, evidenced by the whole Darius Miles' "career-ending injury" and subsequent "comeback".

Basically, you're stuck with a contract if you sign it.

I don't get the lack of interest Tinsley. I think the Pacers must be to blame. He should be a viable option for a lot of teams and has a fairly reasonable contract. And I still think he's the best PG on the team.

What don't you get. Most teams are willing to overlook a few indiscretions if the talent is there. Tinsley is just WAAAAAY past a "few indiscretions". Look how talented Zach Randolph is, and how many of us want him here?

He's getting almost 1/7th of the salary cap committed to him alone, has injury issues, can't shoot to save his life (most likely even a gun), and has had serious attitude issues in Indy.

We did nothing to lower his value around the league. Tinsley does that all by himself. It's not like the other GM's don't know this stuff. Hell, they know more than we do.

Meh. What other GMs know is that we shot ourselves in the foot and tanked Tinsley's value, and that they have a good shot at getting Tinsley cheap after we are forced to buy him out. And they all know that because we want to get rid of him so badly, they can ask for more than what is fair in a trade.

The only way Jamal gets moved is summer is by taking back a contact of equal length and size being paid to a player who serves virtually no purpose for his existing team. The team would also have to have a need for a back up point guard. Can't imagine anyone in need of a starter thinking Tinsley. I see Jaric in Memphis, Crawford at G.S. IF Charlotte doesn't reup Felton maybe Mohamad.

Beyond that I think Jamal is still sitting maybe until Feb of 2011.

I suppose he could at some point decide to take a significant haircut to the remaining amounts due on his existing contract. If I'm Pacer management the buyout would be about 10 mil Jamal taking a 5 mil haircut to the remaining 15 mil.

Any of these deals plausible?

Tinsley to Atlanta for Claxton and Randolph Morris - gives them leverage for negotiating with Bibby or at least a backup plan. I believe Tinsley also frequently lives and works out in the area. Maybe we swap picks for a little more incentive?

Tinsley and Diener to Golden State for Jamal Crawford - gives them some better options at the point.

Tinsley to New Orleans for Mo Peterson? I kinda like this one.

Slim pickings really - might have to go 3-way...

Tinsley and Darius Songalia to New Orleans, TJ Ford to Washington, and Tyson Chandler and DeShawn Stevenson to the Pacers...

I think Washington and New Orleans are good targets because they won't have cap space any time soon... although the above trade doesn't really affect any of the team's cap space - all 2 year deals.

Chandler and Stevenson coming to Indy????

PASS!

Are we trying to reassemble a team that would resemble the Jackson/Tinsley/Artest squad?

What value?!?

He HAD no value at the time. We didn't tank anything. He had nothing. Zero. Zero - the zero value that we tanked him still equals zero. Don't tell me you think GM's were lining up around the block to acquire Tinsley coming off of a nightclub brawl, eternal sinusitis, and a shooting in the heart of a major downtown city that got a team employee wounded in both arms? He was MAYBE a borderline top 10 PG, but most likely was a slightly above average NBA PG in terms of talent, and we're acting like this was Gary Payton in his prime.

Possibly, if Bibby walks, and Atlanta is really uncomfortable with Acie Law at the PG spot. This is about no value, right around Tinsley.

I don't think so. They might do a Ford for Crawford, or Ford and the 13th for Crawford and the 7th, but I doubt they'd do anything around Crawford for Tinsley, unless we paid value with it. Sure, Crawford doesn't fit there, but he still has some talent, and only has a year or two on his deal. Tinsley has no value.

fienX420 wrote:Tinsley to New Orleans for Mo Peterson? I kinda like this one.

Probably not for New Orleans. They're likely to bring Jannero Pargo back over from Greece as Paul's backup/combo guard, but I can't see them adding around a million in salary to Tinsley, when they are very motivated by reducing salary, not adding it.

No, no chance. Washington and New Orleans are not good partners, as they're looking to cut cap space. They're not going to make moves unless they cut salary. Adding or swapping it is not incentive for them. Washington's willing to move the #5 if they get some value, but mostly cut salary. New Orleans appears to be willing to move their pick to any team that can help them cut some salary this year or in the next off-season. They're not targets for 2 year deals.

Mavericks fans -

I'll give you Matt Carroll and Devean George for Tinsley - Tinsely may be able to serve as a backup point guard for us behind Kidd.

Carroll is a 3 point shooter - that is all - he has 3 years left on his deal, but declines in salary each year. He goes from 4.7 mill to 4.3 to 3.9

If Dallas throws in the #22, I'd like to do this trade. But isn't George a free agent?

You greedy turds. You get rid of Tinsley. Carroll's contract declines in value. Done. No need to throw in the #22.

Am I the only one who doesn't want the $3,900,000 in 2011-12 and $3,500,000 in 2012-13 salary added?
Tinsley will be tradeable during the 2010-11 season, so why add that extra salary which could used on extensions or quality players to make a title run? Considering we don't need the room for extensions or (probably) free agents in the mean time, why limit ourselves?

I might be crazy, but I do not want any excess salary past 2010-11.
