I like watching stuff like this to try and get a feel for a player's personality because you sometimes don't see that on the court. Like a lot of fans here in Indy and specifically basketball fans, we like the comfort of knowing that the players we support have the right sort of mentality. Dahntay seems like exactly the type of personality that Larry is building this team with. I'd like to call it "aggresively competitive" for lack of a better term. The question that one reporter asked Dahntay about his flagrant fouls in the playoffs last year was answered just the way I wanted to hear it answered. Can't remember exactly the wording that Dahntay used, but it was to the effect that he takes the betterment of his team very personally and will do whatever is needed to achieve that. Overall, I like what I heard. Some people may still be a little bitter about the way the contract situation has shaken down with Jarrett, and us signing Dahntay first, but the fact of the matter is that this is the player that we have now. While he may not do everything that Jarrett did, he brings his own skill set to the table and some of those skills are things that Jarrett didn't have.
Another interesting quote from the presser was Larry saying that "we re-signed Josh McRoberts". I have yet to see any news stories about it, but it's obviously a done deal, and I'm pretty happy about that. McBob is going to surprise some people this year.

My opinion didn't really change on him. I liked him at Duke, and I still like what be brings now. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, knows his limitations, but also know his strengths. He'll be a nice addition to our team. Just like Ron Artest made Granger a better player, hopefully Dahntay Jones can make Brandon Rush a better player just from practicing against him day-in and day-out.
As for McRoberts, glad to see him back. I'm looking forward to hearing the terms of the contract.

im really really hoping that he turns into a solid rotation player. 7.7pts & 5.2rbs that would help A LOT!
i wouldnt be suprised if McRoberts produced more (at least numbers-wise) than Jones

Re: Dahntay Jones Press Conference
Very, very glad McRoberts is signed-- I was beginning to wonder if we might lose both of our 2008 D-day acquisitions this year. He looked awesome before injurning himself in summer league, I think this is the year he becomes a rotation player.
As for Dahntay, also glad he's signed, he'll provide the needed depth at SG, and help defensively obviously.
I also wonder why LB just leaked that McRoberts is signed-- off the top of my head, it has a lot to do with the Jack offer sheet-- kinda like they reached a conclusion about JJ and maybe he's dropping a hint on how they will handle it.... (after hearing this, I think the Pacers won't match IMO)

Star says McRoberts statement was a slip and that it is close but not yet official.

Jones is the type of player that Jeff Foster is. Aggressive, athletic, but not the most talented.
Jones will battle his opponent while on the court. He will run the floor, and can knock down the open jump shot. He fits our system and a key need position.
