(Andre) Miller Time?

Post#1 » by OnFire » Tue Jul 14, 2009 12:22 pm

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

"We need a guard, a swingman, and two bigs," said Stefanski, who has consistently declined to talk about specific players.

With Andre Miller all but gone, Stefanski is looking for a veteran point guard. The main candidate to fill the starting spot is Lou Williams, a promising but inconsistent combo guard who has not started a game during his four years with the team. And the Sixers can only hope that rookie Jrue Holiday is good enough to earn significant playing time next season.

Miller, a 33-year-old free agent who was hoping to land a three-year deal from the Sixers worth as much as $30 million, was offered a one-year contract at about $6 million from the team he directed with skill for the better part of three seasons.

Stefanski said he had been talking to Miller's agent, Andy Miller, on a "regular basis." Stefanski chose not to comment on rumors of a possible transaction involving Miller and Chris Duhon of the New York Knicks, but a league source said no such move was in the works.

"We're now in a sign-and-trade mode," said Stefanski of Miller, who could also exercise his right to sign with the team of his choosing without the Sixers' receiving any compensation.

To anyone not sold on TJ,
how 'bout 'Dre?

There's an elite playmaker
right there.

Maybe this could be a
straight-up type of deal.

Your thoughts.

Though we all may have interest in Miller,
Ford's contract may be a deal killer.

Philly wants to limit the agreement's years to one,
and they may not find TJ's deal any fun.

But, as they say, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"
As long as by rejection, we are not unduly pained.

On a three-year deal, I'd certainly take a flyer,
And if TJ's the price, consider me a buyer.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

No thanks to Andre Miller. 10 million a year for a 33 year old non-superstar. Nope!

While certainly 'tis true, $10 mil is his desire
He surely knows, at that price, he has no buyer.

So it has been mentioned, that if the years are three
He'd be more amenable to the full MLE.

Given that price, and that he's been so damn durable
I don't find his age the least bit deplorable.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Well, okay. I get why count is doing it, but why does the OP form his sentences in a poetic format?

'Twas the OP's style, so out of the norm
That did inspire my poetic form

As to his reason, I'm dull as a stone
His motivation, to me, remains unkown.

I think the only chance that the Pacers would land in Andre Miller is that the Sixers are willing to take Tinsley.

A diff'rent form of poetry, I see employed
But Haiku is something I've never enjoyed.

It could be just taste, or a block that is mental
or maybe my worldview is just too occidental.

There's one other thing that I need to note
By putting Andre on the Hawks, you've missed the boat.

You should know better, you silly billy
Miller's erstwhile team is actually Philly.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Call it a habit, it is not by chance
You'll see this in more than one circumstance

In my SIM League, this is also how I post
It makes the words seem to flow from coast-to-coast

It began there and – here – got carried over
I guess consistency is a virtue of this armchair Pacer

I would be happy if we could acquire Andre Miller. He's a very good point, and although he's getting older, he's been extremely durable and doesn't appear to be slowing down.

My logic to a for Ford/MIller trade.

The 76ers have their future pg but counting on him in a big way this year would probably be a mistake. I would think they would want to bring Holiday off the bench in year one and thereafter once he's ready he's the starter. That could happen in year 2 but by year 3 the training wheels come off. That plan doesn't work with Miller's desire for a 3 year deal.

Ford only goes out two years and that may fit the Philly plan better (one less potential year of a very expensive backup).

Pacers don't have the future pg in place and I"m guessing most view Miller as the more accomplished player. Accordingly, the 3 yaer contract isn't a bad option for Indiana.

Can't imagine the Pacers are any more willing to ante up 10 mil a year than Philly for MIller. At this point Miller and his agent should be figuring out there is no 3 year 10 million/yr deal out there for Andre.

If Miller signs on with the Knicks how about we make Philly and offer of Jamaal and 2 2nd rd picks for Jason Kapono. Philly will have only Williams and Holiday as PGs, I personally doubt Holiday is ready to play more than a few min a night. Williams averaged only 3 asts. So JT would help them short term.

Raps fan - Kapono had issues fitting in with the Raps but by far he had the best chemistry with TJ. TJ understood how to utilize Kapono and would keep feeding him the ball if he was hot. It would be a selling point for me if I was trying to sell TJ on the Sixers for sure.
