It'd be stupid not to do the Ford, filler (although, legally, this would have to be Diener, or we'd have to wait until well after the draft to sign and trade the pick or S&T a free agent like Graham), and #13 for Conley and Darko. Hell, I'd do it for Conley and Marko Jaric (though I'd rather include an additional 2nd round from Indy and get the Nuggets 1st rounder back from Memphis in the deal as well if I take on Jaric). I'd really want Conley and Greg Buckner as Buckner's deal is only $2.1 million guaranteed).

Conveniently, Jaric expires the same time Dunleavy and Murphy do, which also happens to be the same time that Greg Oden becomes a restricted free agent in Portland. Anyone else thinking that could be the start of a Granger, Conley, and Oden period in Indy? Think Oden would come to Indy if we had the cap space and already had Granger and Conley? Methinks so. Then again, it remains to be seen how much Oden would be worth.

Conley started looking great under Lionel Hollins in Memphis. Iavaroni was just a horrible fit for him. There's no one at #13 that would make me re-think

Yeah, I don't think Memphis would do it, but I would take on a bad contract to get Conley.

The only thing about getting Oden is the he is restricted. Oden would have to tell Portland that he refuses to play for them, most likely. Conley and Granger is a great start, plus Rush (and hopefully Hibbert). Add Oden to the mix (then probably have to take our Hibbert) and that could be an amazing team. It won't happen, but we can dream.

Actually, I think it is possible that we get Conley. It seems Memphis isn't sold on him. I don't think they would want TJ back, though, because he wouldn't be their answer at PG. We'd have to add in a 3rd team to take TJ, most likely. And I could see Oden coming back to Indy, especially if Conley is here. Only bad thing is he is restricted. So I guess there is actually a chance of that happening, albeit an unlikely one.

Can't trade Diener until he picks up his option...

(...Oh...he could probably use a little trading value, too.)
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Fillers don't need trade value.

I think a lot of you are riding this Indiana bandwagon thing pretty hard. I like Conely and would love him on the Pacers, but he still hasn't done well in the NBA, some of you are acting like hes already a star. Hes still young and has a lot of potential, which is why I would want him, but as of now, he hasn't done much of anything.

Nah, no one is saying he's a star. What I am saying is that I don't like TJ Ford, and I think Conley will be better than him. Conley is much more of a natural distributor, he is already a vastly superior defender (he's a better defender than Jack too), and he really did play well after Iavaroni got fired. He won't ever be in the Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose echelon, but I still think he will be very good. And to keep on topic, he will be a whole hell of a lot better than Ty Lawson :D .

I'd be shocked if Conley is better than Lawson 3 years from now. Lawson's talent is another level.

I wouldn't be shocked, but I really don't expect him to be.

I just described me being shocked didn't I? I meant, I think its in the realm of possibility that Conely will be better, but I fully expect Lawson to be.

Also, welcome to the board man.

I completely agree. Ever since high school I thought he was good just because he had Oden. Then I played him once (thank GOD I didn't have to guard him). He was quick as hellll. I noticed when he was at Ohio State that he was a great player, even without Oden. He can pass, is quick, can get steals, and is a good defender. Pass-first PGs are the PGs I like. And I agree and think Conley will be better than TJ in a year or 2.

Thought it would be interesting to bring this back up with some preseason games behind us. I tried to find a better one where we talked about a lot of the recruits but this one was interesting to.

He looked good in that Lakers preseason game. No doubt he is quick and can get to the basket. I might have to rescind my "Conley will be better than Lawson" prediction. There is poison in the water in Memphis, and it goes by the names of Randolph, Iverson, Mayo, and Gay. What a mess. Lawson has a perfect situation in Denver.

I think I would rather hone my basketball skills through Billups over Iverson... I just hope Memphis saves Conley by trading him. Our future first for him!

I like Mayo and Gay, but not on the same team. Kind of like when ATL kept getting swingmen.
