Not even where. Just which of the 2011 expirings (Foster, Murphy, Dunleavy, Ford) get moved this summer or fall and why?
In other words, not what do the Pacers get, but which players are the the most wanted by contenders, will bring us the best assets, etc.
I think that Foster will be on his way to a contending roster for a young player and some expiring money. His defense and the fact that he's been a part of great teams (2000 finals, 2004 61 wins...) is something that contending teams want in a big guy. Plus he seems like a good guy in the locker room that won't say peep if he's playing 5 minutes or 25 minutes a night.
I'd say that at this point the team is pretty likely to keep Murphy for lack of a better thing to do and the fact that he's a PF. See any other PF's other than Hansbrough on this roster?
Dunleavy's out the door. I don't see a chance that the team keeps him. Someone will be willing to take his potential and his massive expiring deal on a one year rental. I just don't see the need for him in the rotation with Granger, Jones and Rush appearing to be the longer term trio.
Ford - I think that the Pacers would move him for a washing machine at this point, but I see him as a January trade more than a summer time deal. The Pacers can afford to wait, and they may not have another option at point.
As a sidenot, I think that the Wolves will be willing to make Ramon Sessions available this summer. They may be willing to take Foster in that swap. I don't think Jeff is best served playing here this late in his career, but the bigs here seriously need a guy like him around. None of them play D and (with the exeption of Love) they go through phases where they just don't care, at all... It's really hard to watch.

Re: Which expirings get moved this summer and why?
I'm terrible at predicting the future with this sort of stuff, but given the Pacers' needs, I'd guess it's more likely the expiring contracts would be dealt at the February trade deadline than this summer.
This summer, teams interested in expiring contracts are most likely going to be looking for cost savings--those teams don't help the Pacers, because the Pacers are looking for cost savings too.
But in midseason contending teams start looking to plug holes in their rosters with guys who might help them win (like Murphy or a healthy Foster), and might look to plug them with short-term commitments, and might be willing to give up developing players or future draft picks. That's the sort of team the Pacers want to do business with. At least, I think it is.

Re: Which expirings get moved this summer and why?
I doubt Foster gets moved this summer given his injury history this season.
It would be too big a gamble for any team. I would agree with the above and say if health and still fairly productive he gets moved before the Feb deadline. Probably same with Mikey D although I don't see too high a demand for him as he has reduced his production.
TJ Ford will probably be the most likely to be moved around this draft. The Bobcats may still be interested and will see what Felton does.
Murphy will be in demand but I would say he is another that will probably be moved closer to next Feb

Ford will be gone this summer to the Bobcats for either the initial package, or a sign -n- trade for Felton.
We'll know if Murphy is available prior to season after our draft slot is determined. The Bucks were an interesting team that showed interest, I'd take their first and an expiring if in fact we are top four. There is a stronger possibility around the deadline, as things stand.
Foster will be gone prior to the season, backing up Duncan. We've got the younger, more offensive version of Jeff, I see know other alternative. It's been great having him, but it's time.
Dunleavy has reverted back into a bad contract, an expiring one at that. Maybe we can get lucky and land a disgruntled seasoned prospect, ready for a change of scenery.

Re: Which expirings get moved this summer and why?
Not gonna lie, but, deadline day 2009, i didn't expect anything. I really wanted Jeff Foster for their 1st round pick as i believe Chad Ford had reported was supposedly on the table, but i didn't buy it.
However, draft day 2009, i thought for sure we would see movement. Maybe even the Foster for the Nuggets pick which it was in the early 20s. I even thought we may move up in the draft, as because Larry Bird seemed very high on Tyreke Evans and i'm pretty sure there was reports that they really like Stephen Curry and Jonny Flynn too. In any case, i thought Bird was going to make moves to brighten the future. I was wrong.
Deadline day 2010, i was positive that we would trade Murphy and maybe make another deal. Failed again.
So, my prediction for this summer shouldn't be counted on too much. I'm obviously not a very good reader into the eyes of Bird and the Pacers organization. I read all the columns and blogs from the top NBA reporters and see what they say about Indiana but i always come to the wrong conclusion.
It would be my hope, that they will not only trade TJ Ford away but also trade Murphy away too. They could probably get a good young player for him or a mid-to-late first round pick. If Ford is moved, it will obviously have to be packaged with someone like Rush, which i wouldn't mind if the return is nice enough and Gerald Henderson and DJ Augustin would be just great.
I doubt Jeff Foster is moved though, because of his injuries, i think his value is very low right now, and also, i truly believe he loves it in Indianapolis and wouldn't want to be moved.

Re: Which expirings get moved this summer and why?
Right now I'd say Murphy. Foster coming off surgery is a risk no one will want to take until they've seen him play. Dunleavy and Ford have played so badly its hard to see anyone willing to pay their salaries even for a year. Murphy has at least played competently and the skills he brings make a lot of sense for many teams. I also think there will be teams who have cap space this summer who do not hit with one of the big name free agent. Acquiring Murphy and his contract and preserving cap space for the summer of 2011 could make a lot more sense than committing long term to a lower level player.
In this scenario there is a limit to what the Pacers can expect in return. A team expecting to draft late in the first round might be willing to give a first round draft pick. But, I would be surprised if anyone seeing the potential of drafting before pick 20 would give that away for potentially one year of service.

Maybe a team like Orlando?

There could be a major amount of activity following the big Free Agents. Depending on where they land, that could open up quite a few different trade scenarios. Until then, I'd have no idea who would be a primary candidate to be moved.
I'd probably assume we'd hold out on most until the deadline.

We will be content with being below average. Their goal is to sneak into the playoffs each year. We'll win quite a few of these last few games and end up with like the 8-10th pick, which in this draft, isn't very spectacular.
I could see Ford being traded. But in the end, we'll want more for our expirings and end up a) waiting too long and getting very little value or b) keeping onto them and getting nothing in return

Honestly, after last season I think that the salary level is right where the Pacers want to be. Now it's a matter of moving pieces, maybe obtaining picks or youngsters with potential and getting another upper tier player to flank Danny along with several rookie scales (Hibbert, Rush, Price, McRoberts...) and rotation guys (Jones, Jones, Watson again?) and the team starts to look pretty good. I'd love to see Foster stay, but what good is it doing him? He can be a part of a great team.
I don't see the Pacers doing anything on draft day, I see them as a post free agent bonanza winner. Teams will begin accumulating cap space for 2011 (and lowering payroll to get in line with the new CBA) once the top free agents (the 2003 class, Stoudemire and Johnson mostly) and the Pacers have 2011 expirings like no other team.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pacers use the mid-level on just one player rather than massaging it around this year too.
