trade with the nets

Post#1 » by brook_11 » Sun Apr 18, 2010 3:13 am

Would you guys consider doing this:
NJN get: Granger, 10th pick.
IND get: Harris, CDR, Yi Jianlian and the 3th or 4 th pick.
What do you say?

Why would New Jersey do that?

Granger is a young star. Moving down from 3rd or 4th to 10th is not going to be huge in this draft. I guess I never get too hyped up about the draft, mostly because you could be getting a Darko instead of D-Wade type thing. I don't think the Pacers would do that, but anybody who thinks anyone outside of Wall or Turner is going to be a star in this draft would disagree I'm sure.

If that pick is Turner, I'd think about it. Turner is much more of a Melo/Wade than a Darko. Turner is not an overhyped Euro center.

Turner could be better than Granger. But if Turner's gone at pick #2 (most likely) then I will have to decline. With picks this high it is definitely a draft-day trade.

this trade would only be beneficiary to both teams if it was done on draft day.

it's worth considering b/c it turns out to be granger and the 10th pick for a potential top 2 pick and devin harris.

IMO we then would try to move HARRIS for a legit SG/SF because of the loss of granger. and try to get a legit PG in the top 2 pick.

if we decide to keep harris then we would have to change our mindset to get a legit SG/SF in the draft; however, the talant level is not good.

so at the end of the day, i would have to say no b/c like the above guy mentioned, drafting talant out of college isn't gueranteed. (e.g. tyler was picked over ty?.. not acceptable )

The idea behind the trade I'm sure is that Wall and Turner aren't there. If either one is there, I'd do the deal just because both are fairly sure shots. The dropoff in talent after 2, though, along with the fact that there's no proven talents, is enough that I would just have to say no.

I would do TJ Ford and the 10th for Devin Harris. That's about right. Close, some movement either way to make it fair.

Then, I would NEVER consider a Granger for CDR, YI, and the 4th pick. Wall, Turner, and Cousins would all be gone by that point.

I'd decline. It's not a terrible offer, but I'm not sure there's going to be a huge different between #4 and #10. Right now, it looks like maybe the difference between Favors and Ed Davis.
