Yea the Clips usually don't trade rookie deals, it is when they have to resign their own, that they usually decline to do so.

Regardless, Davis, Gordon & the #8 are not really such lofty expectations. Gordon is obviously an uprgrade over Rush offensively, but defensively Rush is an upgrade over Eric. The #8 and #10 are virtually the same crap-shoot. I'll break it down in greater than or less than arrows.

E Gordon >> B. Rush
#8 >> #10........ If their target projects at ten, I could see the thrifty Clips doing it.
B.Davis <<<<T.Murphy.... Murphy is better and he is expiring.

Honestly I wouldn't do it from the Pacers perspective. Taking on totally dead weight can actually have an adverse affect on the franchise, that could prolong the perpetual state of mediocrity our team is suffering from. The reward for agreeing to pay that type of salary has to be greater.. imo.

I see guys like Davis and Brand as cap killers. Now if I had to take Brand to get the #2 pick and get Turner I'm willing, but I don't see Philly doing that unless they are desperate to dump Brand. I tend to think they will take Turner and give Brand one more season to get back to normal or close. If he doesn't get back they might trade him off next season when his deal is a little shorter.

But these deals where teams pay with assets to dump salary are rare so I don't look for anything to happen like that.

A smaller deal like the Minny deal or maybe a move like Dunleavy for Nocioni and a pick or swap of picks. We'd take an extra year but save some cash this coming season.

Any way you slice it we need to dump a little salary to get below the tax threashold and any idea of a free agent is not gonna happen unless we are under the tax. If you give an Acie Law $2 million and you are over the tax it's like paying him $4 and if he puts you over the tax you lose the rebate as well.
