Paul George

Post#1 » by Crossova21 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 4:56 am

Speaking of George, the Grizzlies did have him in for a workout today, but I had a few of the facts wrong from Tuesday's mock. This was actually George’s first workout for Memphis (he canceled an earlier one) and owner Michael Heisley ended up not attending the workout. The Grizzlies would still take George if he’s on the board, but if the Pacers take George, it will be Luke Babbitt.

Why isn't anybody talking about bringing George to the Pacers??? I know he plays Granger's position but we know Danny can play the 2, 3, or 4 and in his interview George says he thinks he's a two-guard. To me he's an upgrade over Rush and clearly better than Hayward.

As far as the need for a point guard goes...I say use the expirings or draft a point guard in the second round. Paul George isn't a reach at 10 either. Time for the Pacers to quit drafting role players!

If they can't get a PG via trade, they should work some moves to open cap space, again using the #10 pick.

There are plenty of veteran PG's out there that can be short term solutions for the Pacers, like resigning Watson, or Chris Duhon, and even Golden State's CJ Watson.

I've been saying this for the past few weeks about drafting George. I'm really high on him, and think he could potentially be one of the best players in this draft. I think we need to draft George at #10 then trade for Collison. Collison and Peja for Murphy and Rush is what I'd offer. We take back more money this year but get even more of an expiring for next season (if I've figured this out correctly).

PG Collison
SG George
SF Granger
PF Hansbrough
C Hibbert

This way we give Hansbrough the starting rains and see if he can prove himself as a starter. If not, then that's the position we strictly focus on in the 2011 free agency. Throw as much money as possible at Al Horford or David West and then we have an even more solid starting five.

Paul George could be the biggest upside guy on the board when the Pacers pick. For those wanting to see us swing for the fences with pick 10 I think he might be your guy.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Pacers take him, but I think he's a high-risk pick. He's just never played against a very high level of competition.

And would he be compatible with Granger? Because he looks a lot more like a small forward than a shooting guard. Although with the right point guard, having two small-forward wings who can both shoot would work out fine.

I really like CJ Watson. If we were to take George and sign CJ, I think those would both be positive moves.

I prefer Bradley although that's based on reading and not watching workouts.

I think if we drafted George we'd find some way to make it work. Imagine a lineup of:

PG
Rush
George
Granger
Hibbert

As much as I like Udoh I don't think he will be the star player Granger needs beside him.

I say

Pg.
George
Granger
PF(as I'm reluctant to count on or start T-hans)
Hibbert

I feel as tho, we'd have two Forwards who can shoot. So we could simply play big. If we could get a pg who can create a shot for others, not just himself, and we'd be seriously all set. George and Granger would be AMAZING in that kind of situation. Granger would be soo much better if someone could create for him.

If Udoh is gone to GSW at 6, and no trades come to fruition.. i think George is the pacers selection at 10. unless Monroe falls but i dont think he will.

Return to Indiana Pacers
