Off topic: stuff to do in Indy for a weekend

Hey guys,
I'm currently in Lexington at UK doing some work as part of my grad studies, and since I've come all the way from the land down under I thought I'd do some travel while I'm here for a couple of months.
So I'm looking for some ideas/suggestion of good things to do in Indy if I can make it up there for a day or two.

Needs to be economical (I'm a poor grad student , plus I need money for the shop at the Fieldhouse! ) and if possible close to or accessible from the city (where I imagine I'll stay).

Shop for hotels at Hotwire, gonna be your best bet. Scottys is like next door to the Fieldhouse, if you go on monday they got all you can eat wings for $10

Also depending on when your here, you can see an Indy Indians game, its cheap

Some museum ideas:

Downtown is the NCAA hall of champions. I haven't been there myself, but am sure it is interesting for a Sports Fan...

If you are a racing fan, you could head out to the Indinapolis Motor Speedway museum on the West side of town...

If you are into art, you could go to the Indianapolis Museum of Art...
