How could we win out of Melo leaving?

Post#1 » by DougInOz » Fri Aug 27, 2010 12:35 am

So apparently Melo is all but gone from Denver, just pondering if anyone has ideas for we could get involved with our exprings, extra players, TPE as part of a multi-team trade?

I have no ideas myself, just bored and wanted to ask the question of our great trade minds here.

Anything is possible, we wont get Melo of course. Multi team trade will probably only way it will go down, it be nice to dump a player or two like TJ, Solo or McRoberts so we can sign Rolle

Maybe we can get Renaldo Balkman. I'd be cool with that.

I think Balkman would be a good backup 4, undersized but a good defender. Maybe Jordan Hill?

We need a starting 4, not a back-up.

The Pacers would like to have a defensive PF to pair with Hibbert. Martin is a choice but he's overpaid and injury prone. Balkman is a bit undersized, though he's a good defensive player, I don't think he can top over McRoberts in Pacers roster under JOB's system.

The nuggets would like to recieve picks and young players in return, but I don't see the Pacers would give up their picks or young talents, except Lance Stephenson. The only player I like in Denver's roster is Billups. I would like to send Lance Stephenson, T.J. Ford, Solomon Jones and a future 1st round pick, but I don't think they are moving him.

Mike Dunleavy Jr, Dahntay Jones, and Solomon Jones for Kenyon Martin. Get it done Larry!

Martin would go great with Lance and Rush. It'd be a new version of Tinsley, Jackson and Artest.

I think the only way you guys might "benefit" from Melo leaving was if you wanted to trade Granger to get even younger. If Denver wants to stay competitive, Granger is basically the next best thing - if not better in some areas. If you wanted a duo like Thornton and Favors, I'm sure something could be worked out. New York and New Jersey both have ending deals and young assets. Not too many other players Denver would give away that would be worth acquiring - other than maybe Billups, but doubt trading Collison so early would be the right move. And probably not the smartest thing either unless Indy REALLY pushed to put together a contender FAST because of his age.
