Yo, chill. 2-3 isn't success.

For sure you are set at 3 positions:

COLLISON(23)
sg?
GRANGER(27)
pf?
HIBBERT(23)

GEORGE(20) looks like a great talent, but he kind of reminds me of young Granger. Can he play sg? I doubt
All others are replaceable.

1)IMO...I would trade Granger for high pf or sg prospect and draft pick...or for high draft pick. Than go with trio Collison,George,Hibbert and 2 high draft picks 2011. It is like this in nba, no use to be mediocre, better to suck one season and get high draft pick and than with a young team improve year by year.

^^^ I can't fathom trading Granger yet, especially considering all the cap space.

Hopefully, we'll only have another 6 months or so of Jim O'Brien. I think a new coach could make a huge difference. JOB will have had four years and he's done nothing but go backwards. Went from 36 wins and 3rd in the central, to 36 wins and 4th in the central, to 34 wins. With the East catching up to the West, that can't happen.

That's what I was wondering. It's not that I don't like the guys, but we need someone else, too. Who's to say that Josh can't be the swing between the 4 and the 5 that we need? That would mean solid minutes for Tyler, and maybe a Glen Davis type guy in free agency (someone who won't break the bank, but could be signed away as an unrestricted guy).

16/10 in 38 minutes? Hell, we might as well trade for Elton Brand. He's putting up 19 and 8 in 35 minutes all by himself. I'm sure Tyler or Josh could get -2 points and 2 rebounds in 3 minutes.

Hibbert's development really shapes what you need at the four spot. I'm in no hurry to get a scoring 4 as long as we're getting rebounding and defense from the position. you can play a DD when you have a Rik. a healthy Jeff Foster would solve a lot this year. all we really need is a dependable, veteran center who can give us an option other than going small for those nights when Roy is in foul trouble.

I'm wanting to see a hard push to make the playoffs this season. Give these guys a taste of it, most of the guys on this team have never been there. I think we are past the point of building through the draft, as we've got our young talent stockpiled (PG, Lance, Tyler, Josh, Rush, etc.) so we don't need to pull another one of our years where we win just enough to not make the playoffs but to successfully destroy our chances in the draft lottery.

So I wanna see us make the playoffs, just to prove we can, and I think it's very well going to happen. I'd say 4 spots are locks w/ Boston, Chicago, Miami, and Orlando. Charlotte may get back there again, and the Bucks as well. But after that I can't see any team really being better than we are.

That Denver game was definitely a wild aberration...nobody plays anywhere near like that on a regular basis...but still I'm speculating--could that be THE breakthrough game for this young squad? Is it possible that our development and especially our team chemistry and confidence is much further along than we've been thinking?

Yeah, I'm wondering if Josh and Magnum could be the backups at the 5, and we could sign a guy like Glen Davis to platoon with Tyler (and lesser Josh) at the PF spot. That could be a cost effective, team oriented building plan.

But yeah, everybody. Brace yourself. We're going to be on the other end of games like last night a couple times this year.

I really like what McRoberts and Hansbrough have given us so far at the PF position, but am I convinced that either is the long-term answer going forward? No. They might be starters on a good team, but on a great team...a contending team? Probably not. Fortunately, that's not a problem for us right now, and we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

^^Nobody's going to shoot .952 on us in a quarter.

But, yeah, we will get blown out of the water.

I like the Glen Davis idea, since he does have starting PF skills, and he is pretty talented. His strength and deceptive speed could really play off Hibbert well.

Grang33r wrote:With this team being so young, and i don't think "very good" is possible for next year because when i think very good, i think top 4 in the east and remote shot at a deep playoff run. Two or maybe even three years down the road, i agree, i think they can be very good. It's taken a bit longer to build up but we are now seeing them develop a bench and fill our positions. However, i think, it may be wise if they decided to ask around the league what they could get in return for Danny Granger. I have to imagine they could get a lot.

His lack of commitment to defense is really bothering me and him being part of another 2 years of mediocre basketball, i think it may disinterest him even more.

Hey this is a kings fan and i was wondering if this would be a good trade in your point of view. you send us danny granger and dahntay jones if its true that they want to dump his contract, and we send you carl landry, donte greene, and some draft picks.
Carl Landry would give your team a great low post scorer and would be a significant upgrade over mcroberts. the only problem is that with our crowd of big guys he takes away minutes from players like Jason Thompson and Hassan Whiteside who we consider our long term answer at the position.
Donte Greene has unlimited potential, he is 6'11" and is super athletic with a nice jumpshot. He is so versatile because he can play any position except the 1. He is a great locker room guy and always has a positive attitude. He brings great energy. The only reason we are willing to offer him is because he gets no playing time playing behind casspi and garcia.

I think this trade benefits both teams

^^^ Not a fan of the trade. With the cap space and the already improved roster with a young core (Granger, Hibbert, Collison), this would be still-rebuilding move for us Pacers. Especially since the meat of the trade, Landry, isn't a lock to re-sign after this season.
