Rubio VS Barac and Lorbek

There is another article out about how Rubio doesnt want to play for the T-Wolves. As of when does a draftee have the choice where he plays?

This makes me wonder about when we try and bring Barac or Lorbek over from Europe. What if they refuse to play here? Do we just trade their rights for a draft pick or what would we do?

Rubio wants to be some high profile superstar. He doesn't realize you have to actually be be good in order to do that.

The other two I doubt have that problem, they're just comfortable where they're at.

We probably won't do nothing with them because nobody would really want them if they don't want to come over.

Barac and Lorbek (to my knowledge) weren't has hyped coming out of the Euroleague. The fact that we heard so much about Rubio early on makes me think he bought into the hype and is then thinks he's able to call his own shots. There have only been a couple of examples like that, most notably Steve Francis refusing to play for the Grizzlies back when they were in Vancouver.

But it makes me sick. A team is giving you the opportunity to play a GAME (something kids pay to do in little league) for a very nice living. And they think they're owed something more? What a little snot. But at the same time, if Minny knew that it was a risk that he would refuse to be a T-Wolf, that's their own fault for picking him.

Anyway, back to the point. I don't think Barac and Lorbek have the same pull. As good as they might be, I don't feel like they can get away with it at this point. Rubio was taken at #5 or whatever for a reason, compared to Barac and Lorbek taken in the second round. I wouldn't worry about either having an ultimatum yet. If they do end up having one, yes, trade their rights. I don't want any extended drama like Rubio.

Minnesota holds the rights. We'd have to trade for those rights.

I posted the article in the around the league thread i made, but, in that article, it states that Rubio is willing to remain in Europe... and when he comes to the NBA he wants to play on the East coast... NY Knicks, Miami, Boston were the teams mentioned. Gotta assume Nets and Philadelphia would also be on his list. I doubt Indiana would be... not that we need/want him, because now that the hype has died down, it'd be hard to argue that he's a better player then Darren Collison.

Nah, we got Collison. Don't need Rubio. And once we get rid of Obie, Collison should play up to his abilities. We've already seen what he can do despite the short leash.

We have plenty of scorers already in Granger, George, Collison, Tyler when he's on, and Roy (once he gets his confidence back.) Rubio strikes me as a offensive-minded point guard and we already have a great distributor who can score in DC. But wow, if JOB likes chuckers like Posey and Dunleavy, just imagine the green light he'd give to Rubio.

Isn't it funny though how they only want Eastern coast teams, yet Washington, Philly, Charlotte and New Jersey weren't mentioned as ideal spots? Hmm...interesting.

Very ironic. It's just them trying to sound nice and keep their PR stock up by saying they want to go to the east coast for "family" reasons... BUT, in reality, they only want to go to the big teams.

a player can't choose where to play within the NBA but he can sure choose to play in Europe or Asia instead of here. I think it is just a matter of time until the NBA faces serious competition for players. it'll be interesting to see if there is any recognition of this in the new CBA.

It would be great to match Lorbek and Stanko up against other NBA players, just to see what we've got.

Why do Euro's enter the draft if they are not ready to come over? There should be a 2-yr clause or something, otherwise more and more Euro's will be drafted in the second, where the loss isn't as great for the drafter.

Enes Kanter took a better route, albeit he already lost his amatuer status, but atleast he is in the US practicing with Kentucky in preparation of being top-5 pick.

Whats up with Donatas Montijunas, is he ready to come over and play for anybody next season? If so the Pacers will be in his range.
