I could get behind Favors and their 2011 unprotected pick.

With the Nets pick we could draft Perry Jones to somewhat offset the loss of Granger. I'd really like to have Kanter but with Favors, Hansbrough & Roy it would be overkill. Perry is 6'11"/235 lbs., so I am assuming he could play four positions, and like Paul George last season, he is being compared to T-Mac.

Then with our mid-pick we could solidify the point ( Knight/Walker), the wing (Singler/Vesely), or add to the frontcourt ( Williams).

pg. Collison / Brandon Knight / Price
sg. Rush / Stephenson / D Jones
sf. George / Perry Jones / Posey
pf. Favors / Hansbrough / Rolle
C. Hibbert /

Give Favors some time and we would have a very powerful forward, with DHoward strength. We could also afford a decent b/u center on the market.

It would probably be something like Granger for Favors and a pick swap.

^^^^ Then it's a no go.

NJ was willing to give Favors, multiple 1sts, & Harris to get Melo.

These Granger rumors just won't die....

From Chad Ford's ESPN chat from earlier today-

Nate (Phoenix)

Who is the biggest name in your opinion to get traded by the deadline and to whom? (Excluding Melo)

Chad Ford (1:11 PM)

I want to say Steve Nash, though the Suns continue to strongly insist he isn't going anywhere. A number of GMs in the league think Danny Granger might be available if they can give Larry Bird two starters in return. Mo Williams and Zach Randolph both seem to be in heavy rotation right now.

Granger has to grow up and start playing smart basketball...I remember Pierce was like Granger in his solo Boston days...but after the big 3 he is no more taking bad shots...plays at totally different level.
Smart, great passer, no more ISO moves.

I know Granger is go to guy...but he has to play withing the game and the team.No more chucking!!!

If he is not able to do that I agree IND should trade him and go all young into future:

collison
rush
george
hansborough
hibert

with at least 2 lotto picks in 2011 or 2012

What about the Clippers, guys? Kaman is injured, but is an all-star caliber center, and has shown that throughout his career - I'll give you him, Aminu (or Bledsoe, Gomes) AND a 2012 unprotected Minny pick for Granger. We don't pull out of 2012 Minny pick for just anyone.

Obviously, Griffin, Gordon and DJ are off limits.

That is a hell of an offer Leor_77.

How long is Kaman signed for? It might be wise getting Hibbert some good competition in practice.

Then you offer Aminu or Bledsoe/Gomes and Minny's 2012 pick.

Since we wouldn't actually be gaining a starter I don't know, I guess it would depend on the potential of Minnesota having a horrible recod next year. If the pick is top 3 than it's safe to say that we got good value.

Granger would fit nicely between Gordon and Griffin, and not because his last name starts with a G.... GGGunit.. Also LAC should go to great lengths to retain Jordan, he is starting to play well.

all my interest in trading for Favors disappeared after watching him be totally outplayed by Josh last night.

I like the Clippers trade that has been posted but don't know if LA would go for it. It would be nice if we could swing Kaman to the Hawks in a Smith deal. I think at one time they were interested in him.

A couple of new ideas inspired by the recent play of Paul George and the possibility that he could be better than Danny.

Pacer give Danny Granger
Houston gives Kevin Martin

Could Kevin Martin be a better compliment to Paul George than Danny? He's more of a pure 2 and Paul is more of a pure 3. Maybe George develops faster if allowed the luxury of playing one position and his natural one at that? To opponents good luck keeping up with George and Martin. They would be two of the fastest and quickest players at their respective positions in the league

Pacers trade Danny Granger, Darren Collison, 2011 1st
Utah trades Derron Williams

Utah avoids the whole Carmelo, Lebron, Bosh drama and the devestation it has on a franchise. This is pretty good value for Williams and what they run with is still a very competitive team.

Pacers gamble that by the time Williams contract comes due he is playing for a team on the cusp of contending. He would have at his disposal a legit 7 footer and a stud wing player. Two pieces he never had in Utah. Rush and Hansbrough could also be pretty solid players. Not to mention the cap space available for a couple of seasons.

^^^^ Wow, as much as I hate the Utah deal, KMartin takes the cake.

If you make the assumption that Derron Williams stayed with the Pacers is that trade that bad? Project the development of George, Hibbert, Hansbrough and Rush with a guy like Williams. Is it out of the question for that group to contend?

I know Kevin Martin can't do as many things as Danny but, he is pretty close as a scorer. The real question is will Granger and George be effective together? Would a more natural 2 be better and if the answer is yes, who would be better?

I think Martin and George is a worse fit. Martin is a great scorer, but Granger has versatility. Granger's defensive playmaking is potent, if not his straight-up lock down. The Martin deal would need some sweetener, like us giving a protected picks for Hill or Williams.

...defensive playmaking? Do you mean like creating traps and double teams?
