Brandon Rush question
Since you guys had him for 3 years I wanted to get your thoughts on this guy. He's obviously a good outside shooter. But how is the rest of his offense. Can he dribble a ball? can he pass? can he finish at the rim? How would you rate all aspects of his defense? How bad his off court issues were?

Re: Brandon Rush question
His off-court issues amounted to marijuana, basically.
He can dribble if he needs to, but can't create off the dribble in any sort of capacity. He's a willing passer but not a creator. He has athleticism to finish. His defense is solid. He is an inconsistent offensive producer, and has a tendency to disappear. He can help teams much more than big brother Kareem, though.

I wish he didn't have the weed and twitter problems, but they never really bothered as much as his determination to get better. He never improved as a player.

Re: Brandon Rush question
Good spot up shooter. Not a good ball handler. Pretty good at finishing at the rim when he gets there, but a lot of the time he acts like the paint is lava and doesn't venture into it at all. Not much offensive awareness, pretty much just stands or wanders around.
Defensively, good on the ball defender. Can hang with pretty much any offensive perimeter player, even the likes of Derrick Rose. Outside of that, not much else.
What you see if what you get, doesn't appear to have the drive to me much more than a defensive spot-up shooter even though the talent is there.

I always thought his on-ball D was somewhat overrated, he was good, but some claimed elite.
IMO, he's an elite off-ball defender. You can't run him through screens and has a career 1.1 blocks PER36.
Looking back, I wish we didn't trade him. We could definitely use his shooting off the bench and he wasn't a locker room cancer or even a negative on the floor. He contributed both offensively and defensively.
Fans, media, and front office wanted him gone for what really wasn't too big of deal. Maybe if he'd of got suspended again or something.
