Foster is an unsung Pacer legend along the lines of Vern Fleming, Mel Daniels, Dale Davis or McKey. He was a damn beast that liked to deliver stifling fouls, his per/48 on rebounds was always amongst the league leaders, and his defense on opposing bigs was very good.

He gave us one last glimpse of his effectiveness during the playoffs last season. It almost made me choke up when he was warming up like a boxer, waiting to enter the game, knowing he was about to go to battle. Vintage bad-ass.

Mel Daniels was unsung? What about Don Buse?

I'm not a Pacers fan, but any NBA fan should appreciate such a class guy.

He joins an exclusive club upon his retirement. He is one of five guys since 1981-82 to play in 700 games for only one team and start in less than 400 of them. Those types of players don't stay on teams for that long without being a positive influence in the locker room.

Van Gundy had nice things to say about Jeff on the network telecast of this afternoon. I thought it was nice that NBC would take the time to talk about him in other than a Pacer telecast.
