Fesenko
I thought young seven-footers were hard to come by. It's hard to believe that some teams do not have such a player, and they supposedly can't find one, but nobody gave Fez a look.
I am not claiming that we got a starter or anything, but at the very least he clogs the hell out of the middle, and in the process he alters shots, delivers hard fouls, and grabs rebounds.
It just seems he offers more than a lot of these older broken down Centers (Oneal/BMiller/Foster), sorry Feisty. I have no problem resigning him as a situational big, with the projection that he will eventually b/u 'Big Roy.

Re: Fesenko
I'd love it if we were to resign Fesenko and Lou. In my opinion, we need them both. Fesenko could be a very important defensive for us come playoff time.
In fact, Fesenko could even be a significant part of our second unit offense. When Tyler's shot is off and our guards do not run pick and rolls with Lou our low post scoring options are diminished.
In those limited minutes that Fesenko has played he has posted his man up each and every time. He can get deep post position against backups. He is tall, strong, wide and long. He can shoot over his man.
I'm not suggesting that he is going to be some kind of low post threat. But since he can consistently get deep position in the post we can run some plays through him and get our offense going closer to the rim. Just like our first unit does. It will stop our second unit from being jump shot heavy, get us to earn more FTs and it will generally open up our play.

Re: Fesenko
Though he's not really getting major minutes YET, he's got some good per-minute values for the Pacers. I know it's a bit of exaggeration but per 36mpg, his RPG is 22.3.
He's huge and he takes a lot of space. We can realy use him to purge some of the Bulls' frontcourt out of the paint.
Plus, his interview with the Pacers on his signing shows he's quite a nice guy to be around, quite a bit goofy.

I actually think he could be a good partner to Scott Pollard off-court. He's hilarious.

Re: Fesenko
Just needs to keep losing a bit of weight and getting in shape to be considered a long-term anything. If he does, he'd be good to keep around. Much different style than Lou, but I would think that Lou and Kyrylo would probably compete for a job with us for next year, rather than both be re-signed. Though, keeping both would probably fill us out pretty well. Get a combo SF-PF in the draft (like a Terrence Jones), and either look to use the roughly $9-11 million in cap space we could have (on say...Steve Nash), or look to re-sign Barbosa, and maybe add another useful veteran on an MLE type contract. That would fill the roster out nicely.

Re: Fesenko
I worry that if we keep Fes and move Lou back to four we really don't have a starting quality four other than West and he's getting long in the tooth. maybe the draft or free agency will solve that problem though. a stretch four would let us play all styles.

Well....Troy Murphy will be available....and likely for the vet minimum.

Scoot, aren't you too old to be using hashtags even in an ironic fashion?

Is anyone ever too old to be using hashtags?

Fesenko seems unmotivated to really keep himself in the league with the way he was in Utah, he has skills but never really fully utilized the skills and talent he has (he showed some really good stuff in spurts here which is why he kept getting minutes).

He seems to be responding to the rockstar ovations he receives from the crowd. Maybe it motivates him to play with more effort, who knows.

Yeah, that was the issue why he wasn't signed apparently. He was injured during the lockout and put on weight, so even after he signed here, he was still inactive so he could get in better shape.
