If Plumlee v Ezeli was the choice, I'm happy with Plumlee. It's EJ3's upside that still has me shaking my head. Plumlee and Stephenson were the only guys on our Orlando squad that looked anywhere close to NBA ready. OJ has skills but playing mid-major didn't teach him to be afraid of driving into the trees.

I am happy with what OJ showed in the summer league. He had a hard time doing what he does best and you can see him frustrated, but one thing i admire, and i'm pretty optimistic that the front office saw it too, is that he never gives up, he keeps trying, even to a point that you had to take him out of the game for taking too many bad shots, for forcing tough shots that never go in. The kid will learn, it is just good to see that he's got outstanding persistence.

Mavunga and Kramer looked worthy of an invite to training camp, at least.

And do you mean PJ3's upside? I would've rather had him than Plumlee, but didn't PJ3 hurt his ankle during the summer league? And he was also non-existent against our Summer League team, which made me feel better about our drafting of Plumlee.

^^ Mavunga seems so raw, but he's got upside. His physique is impressive and he's got some decent moves too. Like anyone on that roster, he'd get better in time, but maybe not this season.

I don't think we have the roster space to take on any long-term projects. Essentially, Lance has been a very long-term prospect in NBA terms, and now Pendergraph is kind of our front court project. Can't see that we'd lock up a 4th roster spot on another one since it looks like we'll lock up a 3rd project in OJ.

If at all possible, I think the Pacers should get rid of Pendergraph. He didn't play that well during the Summer League, even if he did injure his back (I think?). Mavunga would seem to be a much more rewarding player to develop than Pendergraph; I don't see Pendergraph getting to a point where he can become a rotation player in the Pacers' frontcourt, Mavunga seems to have much more upside.

except Jeff is quite a bit taller than Mavunga and so can be an emergency center. his contract isn't that big though at we don't have 15 players under contract, so I don't see that keeping Jeff would be an impediment to signing Mavunga to a minimum contract. personally though I'd rather resign Amundson.

Pendergraph has a guaranteed contract already and has proven that, even if only a few minutes, he can actually play in the NBA (albeit, not extremely well).

That alone is why Jeff will trump guys like Mavunga this offseason.

With my man 'Pritch in his corner Pendergraph will get a reprieve, even though he probably doesn't deserve one after that awful summer league performance. Plumlee thoroughly outplayed him, along with Mavunga and pretty much everybody else.

Much like Ike Diogu, he always seems to be ailing.

Ultimately, we're squabbling about a guy at the end of the bench, whose main contribution is to perform a version of the Huka. Maybe this year he will get a chance to prove himself by actually producing on the court.
