Roy?

Post#1 » by Starks1994 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:06 am

What happened to his scoring output this season? I drafted him pretty high in my fantasy league after seeing how well he performed in the playoffs, but his numbers have looked pretty pedestrian. I refuse to peg him as just a shot blocker. Is he hurt or just not a part of the offensive plans?

Many things. Producing with a new big contract is sometimes hard. Remember when we gave Austin Croshere the big money after a short stint of being a elite player? It's hard for some players. The offense is a mess right now, and there is zero flow. Hibbert, probably didn't work out as much this past summer as usual, and early struggles have put a ton of pressure on him and his contract, which kills his confidence and just makes it worse. He just needs to get back to basics.

Good piece on "Ball don't lie" blog on our struggles, and Hibbert.... figured this was a good place to post it as you asked about Hibbert.

The author Kelly Dwyer lives in Indiana and is a Pacers fan, fyi.

It is a very good piece. We miss Granger, but we also miss the Hibbert from last year and he is vital for our offense. If he would be able to get and hold position, things would be a lot easier for this team that doesn't start a true point guard.

The link to that dude giving players grades based on hair cuts doesn't add anything though.

Advice from Shaq:

Unusual but not surprising advice.

Big Roy has obviously had a poor start to the year. By all accounts, he's a very hard worker and let's not forget, throughout his career (mainly thinking the last couple years since he's been relevant for the Pacers), he's had a few stretches of bad games and has managed (with time and some trial and error) to come out of it.

I truly believe (and hope) that this stretch will be no different. Eventually, he will come out of this. I don't know if it's the contract or more opponents have made good adjustments, some combination, or what it is. But he's too good and too good of a hard worker for this to be a permanent/very long-term thing. At least, I know it won't turn into an Andris Biedrins situation, where he becomes all but worthless. Biedrins doesn't even see minutes anymore.

Looks like Roy has followed Shaq's advice and Mean Hibbert has finally showed up.
That or he finally found the time and the money to visit his shrink.

Roy needs to be more assertive in the blocks, even if that means passing out of double teams. Unfortunately, Roy definitely needs to grow a set, and at his age that's not proper.

He needs to follow the yellow brick road, it leads to OZ. There he'll find a wizard peddling courage buttons and advice. Upon returning Roy will have learned that his less than inspiring approach derives from his belief about himself.

The contract Roy signed means that our organization is depending on him to bring his A-game on a nightly basis, no excuses. When you sign this type of contract you are required to play at a high level.

Roy is a wuss yeah i said it for 7'2 he plays like a total girl he does these disappearing acts every damn season and now we are stuck with his albatross contract thanks to Donnie "show me the max and ill sign" walsh he is so inconsistent which makes it hard for me to like him.
