Game 61: Celtics @ Pacers

Post#1 » by Nuntius » Thu Mar 7, 2013 1:48 am

Ah, I didn't see that there was no game thread in here.

We're leading 68 - 63 with 10 minutes remaining in the last quarter.

We are shooting horribly from 3 (3/19) but Hibbert is having a big game.

What a way to lose a game. We really **** it up in the final 4 minutes :(

Ugh, second time we've been beaten on a backdoor cut (Minnesota) to (basically) get beat at the buzzer.

Pierce had a lot of jersey but that pass wasn't getting to PG anyway.

two back doors in the last minute. in between we fail to get off a quick shot and blow an obvious two for one situation. sometimes there is just no substitute for experience. maybe we need to unlock that other thread and admit we aren't nearly as good as we'd like to think.

This game sucked. Watching it on Boston's network was worse. Tommy Heinsohn is mentally incompetent and rambled on the whole game about the Celtics playing 5 on 8, then capped it off with "the Pacers got EVERY call in this game" at the end. Honestly, I have no idea why they still have him commenting.

I get that he's a Celtics "legend" but Karl Malone is a Jazz legend and having him comment full time would be horrible (or great entertainment a la Bill Walton). Watching a game Tommy is commenting on is like watching the game with that person who thinks even obvious calls are totally wrong and will scream throughout the game.

As far as the Pacers play, it was awful. I think a small part of it was Hibbert's early dominance. He was automatic in the first and getting incredible position, so no one else had to step up and they got complacent. Hill was the only one who did in the 4th, but it wasn't enough.

I honestly think the main issue is Granger coming back. I know he didn't play tonight, but George has been trying to facilitate more since he came back and it's not really working. He's making Rondo-esque passes, in the sense that his teammates are expecting him to shoot it and can't handle the pass.

I still have full faith that once Granger is acclimated back into the lineup and healthy (hopefully), the team will be much better, but it looks like there's going to be some bumps possibly. Hope we can hang on to the 2 seed at least.

To be honest, I don't know why not more coaches try to exploit the matchup with our slow footed big men.
KG gets plenty of time and space from Hibbert to make the pass and Green uses his speed to shake off West.
It's very hard to help defend that as Green is already at speed when George, Lance or Paul see the plan and need to react.

Credit to Doc, but I do believe the news that Granger suffered a setback played a part in losing this game.
No matter how confident you are, that's tough to swallow when you are close teammates.

Heinsohn can be fun to listen to when you watch the Celtics against a team NOT called the Pacers.
So biased it becomes hilarious

I can't watch him against any team. He's a horrible human being and I cringe when I hear Celtics fans say he's really knowledgeable about basketball.

He flipped out last night after that Bradley steal because he thought it should be clear path when Bradley wasn't even across half court.

One blown game doesn't mean we're now not fit to contend.

Good wake up call! And once again we need a shot to either win the game or tie it and lance is on the floor instead of Orlando which is much better, and what we need at that time during the game, and yes I understand when Danny is healthy he would be out there instead of Lance, but till he gets back, please get Orlando on the floor for another option!
