Hardest team

Post#1 » by mikepacernation » Mon Dec 16, 2013 7:23 pm

I just wanted to know what u guy think the biggest challenge to the pacers to beat. I think it's the OKC thunder. The reason why is because 1 they don't have to have KD guard PG 2 is because of Durant is such a dominate scorer it drains PG and 3 Russell Westbrook is a really tough matchup for G Hill.

I'm of the belief that I would rather have PG on Westy, Lance on KD, and Hill on Thabo. KD is going to score no matter what, he can't be stopped, so I'd rather not totally drain PG trying to do so and put him on Russ where his length may give him problems and save some of PG's energy for the offensive side.

I would honestly say Westbrook might drain PG just as much because they both are excellent cutters and just are always out trying to run a fastbreak. But ur right size will probly be able to stop Russ from scoring as much..

I feel like PG could stay on him long enough to take away the midrange jumper, and if Russ gets by him Hibbert is there to send him back. I just know that PG provides a LOT of our scoring especially in the 2nd half and we will need all the offensive firepower we can must to beat OKC in a 7 gamer.

Ourselves. When we're doing what we do right, we're unbeatable. We gotta rebound and defend, and take care of the ball on the other side.

agree on OKC because they play well at a faster tempo than we do. defensive options will improve if Danny can play as that gives us another competent wing defender.

I think Portland could be just as tough for us as OKC. I think both teams present problems for the Pacers. Aldridge is a bigger better and younger version of West that I doubt we have an answer for. The surrounding parts are just tough matchups. And for OKC; Durant is unguardable. And im not so sure that Westbrook can be stopped because of how good Durant is; and vice versa. Either way Hibbert is going to be very valuable in the event Indy has a faceoff with either team.

Our worst match-ups are OKC and Portland. And the reason why is pretty simple.

Both teams shoot a lot of mid-range jumpers. Our defense is designed to give up mid-range jumpers. Therefore, their offense takes full advantage of what we want to give up defensively. Both teams also have a big defensive Center that can match up with Roy and they have enough size to keep us from dominating the boards.

The Celtics and the Nets were horrible match-ups for us last season for those very reasons. However, the Nets are riddled with injuries this season and the Celtics blew it up so we don't have to worry about them a lot.

The Spurs are also a tough match-up but not to the degree of OKC and Portland.

I'd say OKC. Westbrook just scares me in general, and PG has said Durant is his toughest guy to defend. Plus, with Perkins and Ibaka, they have two strong interior defenders.

I just don't think Hill can guard Westbrook he has no chance against him
