Just saw an article on bleacher report. I usually ignore articles from that website due to the majority of the articles being biased and written by just fans, but this one's from Ric Bucher.
I do notice this whenever Turner gets in the court. There were A LOT of times wherein he should've made an extra pass notably to the bigs but he always end up putting up a shot. His ability to dribble his way into the lane frees up West and Hibbert from their defenders, if one would observe. I think this goes beyond Vogel's control, hope Larry talks with the guys.

I don't think it is selfishness necessarily, I think some of the guys are trying too hard to turn things around. Put yourself in Turner's shoes for example, he comes in, has a great first game but slowly things start to slide. You are terrified that people will put all the blame on you so how do you respond? You start trying to dominate the game each time you come on.
I also think this was the problem with PG when he had his big slump - he felt he had to prove that he was indeed superman. Having to prove yourself leads to silly decisions at the detriment of the team.

Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

Yeah I'm sick of Turner's overdribbling before taking a stupid mid range shot. He's had some nice plays (most especially after Lance got ejected from the Heat game), but he needs to realize he's not a go to guy and should be a facilitator. I can imagine it's tough as he's always been a go to guy, but he needs to realize we only need him to facilitate and get into the paint.
I agree that it's not selfishness per se though. It's frustration being manifested on the court.

To a degree it's all about selfishness. GHill and ETurner hurt us the most when they hold the ball for the first 12-15 seconds of the shot clock. Whether it's rushed shots or forced passes, this tendency is self-inflicted and has nothing to do with ATL's defense, and it's the root cause of our offensive inefficiencies. On the other hand, Watson has been the exact opposite. He never dominates the ball. The ball flows through him, and back to him for the trey.
Watch how Atlanta moves the ball on offense. In one possession, I counted 8 passes, 6 of which never hit the floor, in 19 seconds. I like the 2 second rule their HC uses. If we ran it, we'd spank Atlanta by 20 every game.

I think Watson is our best offensive player at the moment.
I think this is on Vogel. This is a young team, if a coach wants them to play a certain way, he should be able to get his team to play that way, or he's not a good coach. Look at how Atlanta plays.

It's not selfishness, it's hero-ball. The difference is the motivation. Selfishness is when you've given up on your teammates. I don't think that's where we are. Hero-ball is when you try to do too much. That's where we are. It makes us predictable and ruins the rhythm of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th options.
