Should we make a play for him? Would you be happy if he came to Indiana?

I think the rumor is that Brooklyn "would consider trading him" not that Deron wants out of Brooklyn. He hasn't asked for a trade as far as I know.

To answer your question, no we shouldn't. The guy was a $63 million mistake for Brooklyn. He was once considered a top 2 PG in the league right next to CP3 is now not even in the top 5, maybe not even top 10 anymore. He's gotten a hall of fame coach fired, forced his way out of Utah, and has failed to win a playoff series since leaving Utah. He disappears in the spotlight and can't be relied on.

More than that, what we'd have to give up to get him wouldn't be worth it. Evan Turner and Lance Stephenson are both GONE if we get Deron, and there's no way around that. We'd have no shooting guard. Then, Copeland and Scola and probably Ian Mahinmi would have to be sent out for pennies on the dollar. We'd be left with a lineup of Deron, Paul George, David West, and Roy Hibbert backed up by minimum players and we'd have a minimum player at shooting guard.

It's not worth it.

For the right price, I think he's worth it. If we have to give up Lance for Deron, we would be crazy  to do that. Lance and PG are our future along with Hibbert.

Our goal is to keep this team together while adding a ball handler (smh, d. will) and a scorer.

ET was supposed to do both; however, he isn't in content with our system as of yet. I think coach V should hire someone to work with him on the side.

I don't know that much about salary caps and etc... that's why I joined this site... but If he can be added with out subtracting (LANCE, G.HILL OR ET) I think we should THINK about it. my two cents.

I think he would make Indy a better offense than with Hill. But there would be a drop off in defense. My last good memory of Williams in Utah was when they ran those pick and rolls and pick and pops for Carlos Boozer under Sloan and no one could stop Booze. He was a MVP candidate one year. Deron Williams run the pick and roll/pop offense as good as any point guard. Imagine him running it with David West the way CP3 used to. Defenses would be so focused on loading up on the screens to stop Williams and West that Paul; Roy and Lance would just kill them. I know im just dreaming but; If Vogel had Deron Williams and installed that Jerry Sloan Utah offense; David West would cause all kinds of match-up problems; and teams would be in a real pick your poison situation. Realistically the only way something like this happens is if D-Will takes a pay cut. Deron Williams was made by that Utah offense with the 90% pick and pops/rolls. He runs that offense as good as anyone. The reason he hasnt looked as good in Brooklyn is because they dont use him the same way. If indy can get him to restructure and dont have to give up the ranch to get him I like it. I think it would make life easier for everyone on offense.

I like his talent but I don't like him for being fragile. I'd stick with Hill if we are trying to make a good defensive team and make a move on re-signing Lance instead.

For that money? Hell no!
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.
