Re: Pacers to sign AJ Price
Not technically a ten day deal. Contracts do not have to be guaranteed yet. When someone returns, we will cut to 15.

Re: Pacers to sign AJ Price
I have it on good authority that while AJ is not on a 10 day contract, the League's approval of the hardship roster expansion has a 10 day limit. If 4 players are still injured after 10 days, we can apply for a 2nd exemption which will also, if granted, last 10 days.

Good. Price has played ok, but he is a chucker. Some of the shots he was taking last night were down right horrible. I know he's "playing for his life" but consistently taking bad shots isn't going to help him. If only George Hill could get some of that confidence.

There's no set limit. It all purely depends on when an independent doctor verifies that one of the four injured players can return. Once they can, the roster has to return to 15, somehow. 10 days, or 30 days, doesn't matter. Once you start hearing of Watson, Hill, or West returning (since it obviously isn't Paul George returning this early), then days are numbered.
However, there's no need for repeat exemptions, nor set time limits. It's kind of a grey area of the CBA, and as such, isn't spelled out with any exact sort of time limits and the such.

He's always been a poor shooter, though. It's kind of his M.O.

Yeah which is why I wasn't too pleased with us signing him in the first place, though I know it would have never happened if we didn't get blindsided by Mekel's visa issue.

That was my assumption too after reading the CBAFAQ. what I'm told though is that there is a 10 day limit in the paperwork approving the exemption. my source put it in a way that suggests it might even be that the roster exclusion lasts the full 10 days even if someone returns. if my source is right, we may soon read about an application for a 2nd exemption. my source is a journalist who has his own source which I assume is a Pacer official.

I've confirmed that the exemption has no set time frame, and that a it does not continue if a player returns. Before Watson, West, or Hill can return, rather, once an independent doctor confirms that they COULD return, the roster MUST return to 15.

Re: Pacers to sign AJ Price
my source differs. he isn't saying the exemption has a set time frame; he's saying the letter the team got approving the exemption has one. I don't know if your source is someone who would know what was in that letter.
putting the two sources together I think the roster goes to 15 when a player is ready to return or 10 days passes whichever first occurs. 10 days is up soon - might even be today - we'll soon see if they apply for another exemption or if this one continues.
amending my prior post, we have five not four injured players so one can return without revoking the exemption.

<<A.J. Price To Remain With Pacers
The Indiana Pacers have been granted a second injury hardship relief exception from the NBA due to their current status with injured players, and A.J. Price will remain with the team. >>
Looks like my source was right as we needed and got a second approval.

Well, goodbye Price. It wasn't perfect, but you did quite a bit better than I expected on your second stint here.

Thank god. I also felt he did better than I expected, but I couldn't take much more of his hero ball.
I still don't believe he's an NBA player though. He takes some shots Jamal Crawford would turn down and shoots a low percentage. The stupid part is he has a nice shot, but always takes bad shots off the dribble when he's not that talented.

Yeah, I saw a reporter put it that way. Weird.
