Now, here's the question. Solo Hill has an option for 2016-17 of $2.3m. We have to pick it up by the end of October, I believe. Is there a chance we could decline that option if he isn't looking good in camp/pre-season? That alone would put us likely into max salary space....

I'd say no. He showed enough last season to warrant being worth that amount. Worst case scenario we dump him on someone with cap space. And I don't see anyone that will command the max that we could get anyways. Would be incredible if Durant came here, but if we knew he would, we could clear the space needed. If Horford wanted to come here, I'm sure he'd be ok taking a little bit less, and again, if not, then we dump Hill or Miles or someone and if we have to pay a first to do it, so be it.

Yeah I don't see KD being a real possibility but who knows? There are a few positives that make you think he could consider it. I have to assume he and PG became somewhat close on the national team last year pre-injury with those one on one games after practices. Also I think stars would give us a meeting just out of respect for Larry if they know we have max money. And finally I think we could be his best opportunity just teaming up with PG. Those two at the 3,4 or 2,3 would be absolute matchup nightmares. Somehow add another another 6'10 wing and we have the future of basketball absolutely ungauardable.

GHIll (or a longer MCW type point)
PG
KD
Christmas
Turner

Think of all that length together. Those scratch your ankles standing up arms lol. Might be able to challenge Bucks in a length contest.

KD actually signing with Indy would be something that has just never happened in the NBA and I wouldn't expect it to one bit. Yes, providing everyone is healthy, you can probably almost guarantee a title, but you can say the same for OKC. I think we'd even be lucky to get a meeting with Durant.

I hope Al Horford. Hard to see him leaving the Hawks, but you never know. Noah could be a bit of a buy low candidate. He could probably play for stretches with Turner and would be a great get provided he's healthy. I could also see going after Conley if things don't shake out great with this season (and George Hill was always the scapegoat before, so PG play may come up as an issue again, at least in terms of media/casual fans).

I'd be shocked if we're able to get someone major with all the teams who will have cap space, but we could be offering a pretty nice situation.

If Noah becomes a Pacer I am going to hibernate until he is gone. Can't stand the dude. But it does look like they are opening cap space for next summer. Quite interesting signings so far, we are going to be running a lot more, I just hope it isn't going to be completely detrimental to the defensive character.
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

if you sign someone not named LeBron to a 30mm contract, you've guaranteed that PG will want that much or more the next time around. I'd rather sign two guys at 15 than one at 30 but then I've always believed in team over stars.

If he's anywhere deserving of it, all the better! But, regardless of whom else we sign, if Paul George feels he's worth a 35% max contract in 3 years, he'll demand a 35% max contract.

Guys, I was joking about Durant in 2016. If he leaves OKC, I'd imagine it's only to go home to DC and the Wizards. 2017 is much more likely when a whole fleet of guys like Hayward, Curry, CP3 Westbrook, Griffin, Ibaka, and Monroe are back out.

Turner/George/Hayward/Ellis/Hill would be awesome.

I dont believe its outside the realm of possibility. Durant and Paul as someone stated became friends during the olympics around the time that they were challenging each other to one on one games. I expect for them to at least invite him in and present how him and Paul (with Paul present) could probably run off multiple chips ala Mike and Scottie. Also how he could be apart of bringing the first chip to Indiana in the NBA. I believe an elite Paul can lure elite players to want to play with him. And although most of the young guys look up to Larry, Hopefully he doesnt just depend on that to lure a max guy.

I think Solo better be ready to compete in a big way when camp opens because it isn't that hard to find wing guys who can defend but aren't reliable shooters. And, that's pretty much what Solo appears to be. Pacers will have to ask themselves how much commitment are they willing to make to a guy who at his best probably doesn't have that much up side and might be behind Ellis, Stuckey, George, Miles, Budinger and Robinson (not on the two deep even if the team doesn't employ a traditional 4).
