Chances PG gets an All NBA nod?

Post#1 » by pacerfan1984 » Wed Apr 5, 2017 1:22 pm

Seemed like a long shot a month ago but hes been incredible over the last month and I feel if he finishes the season strong and the Pacers get to the playoffs I think he might be a lock which would qualify him for the megamax deal. I seriously doubt he turns down $210 mil. Thoughts??

I don't know if he is a lock for it. There are a lot of good forwards. But, he has a legit shot. No way he would turn down the mega deal.

If he continues the way he's been playing the last 10 games, he should get the nod.

Hopefully for us, he gets it.

There are 6 forward All-NBA spots and based on reports I've been reading, here's what I'm seeing

1) LeBron James
2) Kawhi Leonard
3) Greek Freak

Those guys are all locks. Then, the last three spots are between PG, Draymond Green, Gordon Hayward, Jimmy Butler and Kevin Durant (who may have missed too much time.) and I'm reading that voters will likely vote Anthony Davis as a center.

If Durant has missed too much time in the voters eyes, I like PG's odds of out-voting Hayward

If AD is in fact considered a center that will greatly improve his chances.

I'd bet that voters give him the nod over Hayward. Might not be right, but he likely edges out Hayward on reputation as he's a more established name and voters are going to hesitate putting two Jazz players on there (I see no way Gobert doesn't get on one team).

It's not a perfect categorization, but I like the idea of AD getting in as a center. He's more of a "big" and Paul is more of a "wing" and it's weird because of the ways the NBA has changed it's way of thinking about positions that they'd be seen as being the same category even though they both play a position with the name forward in it. And that some power forwards play more like wings these days than bigs.

It's all confusing if you think about it too hard.

I rather have 60 games of Durant than pretty much anyone else besides Lebron and Kawhi. Hayward and Butler had better seasons than PG as well, though still close IMO. Draymond as great as a defender he is, is considerably worse than last year on offense. I wouldn't vote for him.

If PG keeps playing like he has been, it sure is possible.

I think if the Pacers make the Playoffs, the Bulls don't make it and PG keeps playing like this, he should get the nod over Butler

Giannis could be looked at as a guard too he played a lot of guard with Middleton out for 50 games.

That would definitely be reasonable, but maybe not as likely with so many deserving guards (Westbrook, Harden, Curry, Thomas, Irving, Wall, Thompson, Conley)

I think the guards would be, Westbrook, Harden, Curry, Thomas, Wall, Irving and could be Giannis or Klay. I don't see Durant making it this year because of his injury's and games missed, and I'd say that Dre Greens low scoring average hurts him.

Chances PG gets an All NBA nod?

Don't think he gets it. Waited too late to start putting things together. I've already seen a couple media members say they're voting for AD as a forward so Gobert can get a spot as third teamer. If he doesn't get the DPE I think he's gone.

The worst part is that if they don't let teams know regarding PGs all NBA status the Pacers won't know until after the draft if he qualifies for DPE. That makes it harder to trade him if that's the direction they decide to go because the picks will have already been made.
