No more Lavoy Allen?

Interesting tidbit of news I saw over at http://www.8points9seconds.com. It apparently used to say "Indiana Pacers Lavoy Allen." Now blanks. Allen was always a favorite of mine. Never flashy, but at least was never overpaid. He could always be counted on to do the dirty work, and his contributions were usually ones that didn't show up on the stat sheet. He was a real Frank Vogel type player, if you will. Every now and then he showed flashes of being able to play that David West mid-range game. I always felt if he was a little more consistent with it, he could have been a much bigger contributor. But with the Pacers team on towards a new path, and a league that values power forwards that don't shoot 3s less and less each day, there was definitely some rumbling that it might be time that we moved on from Lavoy.

Is this the right move? Anyone got any Lavoy Allen memories?

I don't think a lot of NBA fans are aware he's still capable of dropping a game like this...

I will always love Lavoy, but seems like it may be time to move on. We're probably going to need the roster spot it looks like.

Scott Agness: Pacers have declined the $4 million team option for Lavoy Allen, making him an unrestricted free agent, per his agency (@ASM_SPORTS).

I appreciated all of his hard work, but it was evident last season he was not going to be around. There were too many instances that he was the back-up and was invisible at times. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Agreed. I liked his hustle and seemed like a good teammate. When I saw this news, I thought maybe it foreshadowed a soon-to-be trade where Indy would absorb a bigger contract. Apparently not...or at least not in response to a specific move
