Shabazz Muhammad available

Post#1 » by chube » Mon Jul 3, 2017 6:21 pm

I think he's worth taking a flyer on now that MN has renounced him making him a UFA. He's 24 and has improved. Not great on defense but given the youth movement and the fact McMillan will still be the coach, that's not a huge issue to me.

While I'd still like to see a run at Otto porter, Shabazz could be worth a look. Also, rumor has it that MN is willing to attach a 2018 first-rounder to anyone who takes Cole Aldrich's $7million contract. That's definitely worth a look to me if we can release Niang.

Shabaka is another McLemore type, I think they need to be in the right locker room to make any sort of improvement. Someone's got to take a chance on one of them, if we could get him cheaply it's not a terrible idea.

I'd love to suck up Aldrich's or anyone else's contracts for draft picks. It's a smart way to acquire assets and stockpiling assets is exactly what we need right now I thinkx

think he'll take a pay cut? if not, can't we claim on on waivers? I have the same question on Rondo.

If I understand the situation correctly, Shabazz is coming off the 4th year of his rookie contract and the Wolves decided not to extend the qualifying offer, so they technically didn't "cut" him. He just becomes an unrestricted free agent rather than a restricted free agent, I don't believe you go through waivers if you simply don't have a QO extended to you.

He made about 3 mil last year, so I don't think he'd be getting a pay cut regardless of where he signs. Probably gets a 2 year deal with a possible 3 year team options as a "prove it" sort of deal like the one we signed Lance to or the Grizz and McLemore contract. I don't expect him to make any more than 5-6 mil per year.

I'd offer that and look for a t-shirt with the pacer logo and "the gang that couldn't shoot straight."

Shabazz is too small for SF, only 6'6'' CJ Miles is the same size and a way better 3pt shooter.

We could use CJ if he'd take what DC took. Haven't heard any rumors about offers for him.

Yeah I'd offer him 2 yrs $10 million with $3 million guaranteed in the 2nd year. Or we could make it 3yr with the same final year guarantee.
